Can Anyone Recommend a local Car Hire Company??

we need a car for the weekend and cannot find somewhere local that hires cars for the weekend - just Vans so far. 

any recommendations appreciated.

There's Enterprise car hire in Sydenham.

Suggest go online and compare prices as car hire prices vary similar to air fares, with prices varying on how and when you book and also pick up location.

We use Avis near Battersea Power Station

It's a shame Eurocar aren't in Lewisham anymore, the nearest is Bermondsey. 

I've found them a bit cheaper than Enterprise but both offer a decent service.

For shorter journeys, Zipcar is ok. Especially the Flex option if you just need to go one way. Tad pricey but works out well if splitting the cost between a few people.

Enterprise messed up my reservation last week, so they are in my bad books.

Turo and Hiyacar are peer to peer care rental apps that might have vehicles in Dulwich. Turo doesn't have a great reputation...

Arnold Clark in Sydenham.  Easy to reach on 176 bus and good weekend deals. Used them recently and all good.   I believe cheaper in general than the big national ones

I've had good experiences with Enterprise on the Old Kent Road. They have driven me back home 2x after drop off.

Enterprise in Sydenham have always been pretty good for me, just we wary if you are picking up Saturday morning can be a bit of a queue

Thanks all - after some research we went with a zip car - I was lead to believe that this was a more expensive option (esp as we were doing more than the allocated 60 miles ) but actually it was ok! The fact there were several parked locally made it particularly easy. I would highly recommend-

Yup, as mentioned above you get 60 miles included for each hire.

Zipcar have just announced they are going to cease all UK operations.

I doubt it! They lost £11m in the last year on revenues of £47m

They blame it on the current economic malaise.

I doubt anyone could turn that round.
