Several attempted break-ins Monday 14th, Upland Road

Hi all,

My neighbour's front door was kicked in today. When she confronted the men, they claimed to be from the authorities and said they needed to come in. One of them even showed her an ID card - obviously fake.

She stood her ground and refused, and luckily they left.

It happened around 1pm in Upland Road. Three youngish men, white, possibly eastern european.

The police came very quickly and have been great. They told us there have been several attempted break-ins today in our area.

The men left an abandoned car nearby. Apparently there was a white van involved further up the road too - don't know full details.

We're certainly going to be extra cautious - double locking front doors etc. My neighbour's door was only locked with the yale lock, which made it more than usually easy to kick in.

Between 12 amd 1pm today 3 males in a Silver Subaru with a loud exhaust, reg no GJ56 HXV were in Woodwarde Rd, I have reported this to the police

Just an update, we had an attempted break in in Sydenham last night and I managed to scare them of. The police came round shortly after and mentioned a silver subaru who had broken in somewhere in Beckenham early. It seems they might be driving around looking for targets.

Was this start of Upland I.e north cross road or the top end?

According to www.askmid.com (the insurance database), GJ56 HXV shows up as this:

Vehicle Make/Model: VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT SE TDI

So not a Subaru.....

But if they are burglars they could be driving a stolen car with fake plates...

Lets hope the Police sort this out asap. Quite a few threads tonight about the same car/people.

A house on Dovedale Road was burgled that night too. Sounded like they knew what they were doing as they were in and out before the police arrived, the house clearly had an alarm!

You'd have to assume they're not stupid enough to drive round in their own car, breaking into houses in broad daylight.
