Bic Basher
Southern have announced that they won't be running any trains until 0900 on Monday due to Network Rail deeming it unsafe to operate a train service during the high winds.http://www.southernrailway.com/southern/news/monday-28-october/There's no indication if London Overground will be operating at the moment. muffins78
Thanks for this! How do we think buses will run in the morning? Do you think that it may be more difficult to get home from work as day goes on? I'm half thinking if I do get to work, may just collect my laptop and go home again! Bic Basher
I'd expect buses to run where possible. As long as there's no trees blocking the roads.London Overground have also decided to not to operate any services until 0900 tomorrow. muffins78
I just saw that about London overground too! Looks like we just have to see how it goes for now! Penguin68
I'd expect things to improve through the day, as obstructions (if any) are cleared and precautionary measures are withdrawn.Getting home in the evening should be generally a lot easier than getting to work in the morningThat was certainly true back in 1987 - although I was closer in (Clapham) then. Huggers
I am due to be at a funeral tomorrow at 9am in Henley! I was going to start my train journey at 7.30am and now not sure whether to risk car. Earl Aelfheah
Eh? They've cancelled the trains due to a possible future event? StraferJack
Isn't that why they evacuate downtown NY when they have hurricane warnings? It's a possible future eventGiven the mores of British weather it's unlikely to impact as badly as forceast - thankfully. But some caution is no bad thing? Earl Aelfheah
Surely you only cancel the trains if and when it's necessary to do so. Its not the same thing as evacuating an area in advance of a likely disaster. Earl Aelfheah
Maybe the redundant train line into london bridge could for one day only, be utilised as a cycle superhighway. HonaloochieB
If it all goes according to this thread and everything grinds to a halt tomorrow, let the Bob Dylan song 'A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall be our soundtrackGeez, that Dylan gets it right every time, don't he? ianr
It looks as if they're being phased back in now. First one on ED Live Departures page with a firm departure time is the 10:51 to London Bridge. http://www.southernrailway.com/your-journey/plan-your-journey/live-running-information/EDW/departures/But still no Beckenham Junction branch? L16579
Were there any trains from London bridge this evening? When I looked on national rail it looked like none were leaving so I didn't risk it - went via forest hill. Just curious to know? *CGPC*
The 17.10 left on time, despite claiming that it was going to be delayed. So hopefully things are getting slowly back to normal... Huggers
I made it to the funeral everyone, with a minute to go. Two buses, two tubes, two trains there, the way back was very circuitous mainly because of misinformation !
