As well as lots of local people, we have singers coming from as far afield as West Sussex and Cambridge. And listeners are very welcome too.http://www.thegooseisout.com/aboutus.html#evecBut I've got no idea what it has to do with The Patch.Anyway, got to go now because I have a gig at The Old Nun's Head, so do feel free to discuss my "negativity" in my absence :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/37874-the-patch/page/13/#findComment-694551 Share on other sites

MissWiggy
Why not go and visit when they are up and running - then you'll be able to form a valid opinion on what they're doing (as opposed to relying on websites / twitter feeds / EDF etc). I'm sure that in the long time they have been trying to get this off the ground they have had to make some changes along the way. That would also give you the opportunity to ask them some questions in person, and give them some feedback - I'm sure they would love to hear how they could improve things and encourage more people to go and eat. I also think that its best they steer clear of this thread. Most of it isn't about The Patch anyway!I really hope it is a success and wish them all the best. Otta
?10.80 for 2 drinks? I guess Peroni is probably about a fiver a pint. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/37874-the-patch/page/13/#findComment-695143 Share on other sites
Jeremy
Yeah, Peroni is always expensive. Triumph of marketing. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/37874-the-patch/page/13/#findComment-695146 Share on other sites
Jah Lush
A large glass of wine would normally come in around ?5.80/?6.00 (Franklins & Expo prices) so the lager was probably around the ?4.30 mark. Have I misunderstood the definition of "self-sustaining"?ETA: I really am looking forward to eating my hat (I am preparing an edible hat as I type), especially as - as I previously fully admitted - I did not think The Patch would get this far, and I was wrong. Mick Mac
Not Patch related but as regards whether the Patch is expensive I bought two pints of IPA in the Flying Pig on Sunday for ?11 ! It was only after buying them that I was directed to the big blackboard price list. Twirly
It was listed in a Time Out article this morning, in an article about rejuvenating London's pubs (though The Ivy House was featured too, higher up) but I can't find the article on the TO website to post a link. But it mentions locally sourced food and a hydroponic growing system. Shame the website is down so they can't make the most of the publicity... These are genuinely premium beers (unlike, say, draught Peroni) for which you're bound to pay more - they're imported in small quantities and are much stronger than ordinary domestic beers.Without pointing the finger at you specifically, I get exasperated by people who can't or won't see that there are genuinely 'better' or more interesting beers for which a premium is (justifiably) charged. No-one walks into a wine shop, for instance, and goes, "?15 for a bottle of wine?! I can get a bottle of wine in Tesco for ?3.99!"And I'm aware that there are rip-off 'craft beers' that don't deliver - much as there are overpriced wines - but the principle stands. On a different note, I only drink strong IPAs in halves - or even thirds. Otherwise I'd get really pissed really quickly... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/37874-the-patch/page/13/#findComment-697380 Share on other sites
