I am sure loads of people have. But what are her interests? What are the financial needs and expectations?

I recently had my hair done at Saks by a 35 year old student hairdresser, who said she had spent 14 years earning a load of money in the City being some HotShot PA to some HotShot moneymaker, and after 14 years she just couldn't hack the sexism and the testosterone flying around, and she's dumped it in, training to be a hairdresser. She knows it will be less money and she is moving house accordingly, but she knows already she is happier.

I wish your wife the best of luck. Lots of thinking and researching to be done!

My missus is changing from working in banking to train as a teacher. She just decided one day that dollar was one thing and job satfisfaction and a rewarding career were more important - it will require a major lifestyle change as the pay cut is massive but I am sure will be worth it in the end.

I stopped being a city wage slave many years ago, but then became a slave to clients.

Am now considering shipping out completely to a wood with a self-build house off grid and all that jazz. Would be interested in hearing from anyone who has similar plans/ideas.

    • Thanks penguin  always wondered about that place and that’s way more info than I ever thought I would get  (used to live above a gun nut on friern road - he would tell me nothing)
    • There was a Saturday afternoon crowd of enthusiasts, and at other times the owner might have been off acquiring stock. He also repaired air guns, which he also sold. He stocked edged weapons, uniforms, including antique uniforms, air guns and ammo and starting pistols and shot. Some medals and other militaria. Quite a lot of ex service chit chat on a Saturday. I had an amateur interest, didn't deal a lot, in English pattern swords and other mainly 19th century militaria. And made some good purchases there. I'm afraid WWII and later events was the major focus of most of the regulars.
    • Did anyone actually venture in to that place? I recall it always being closed/very uninviting!
    • Perry Bamonte from The Cure.. Just 65 years old.
