Mould Help

Hi,

My wife this morning discovered quite a lot of mould growing on the bottom of our 4 month old son's crib as is pretty upset.

I'm aware that it's most likely condensation that is causing the issue, but has anyone had a similar issue and had someone help them sort out the cause of the problem?

I wouldn't even know if you need a handyman or a damp expert?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Adam

Hi Adam

We have the same in our flat due to a number of factors, sounds like condensation/ventilation. . I've purchased a dehumidifier which has helped greatly but also - and even on really cold days - I open a window slightly for a period of time to create some air flow. That and regular wiping down of the area.

From the sounds of it - I don't think you need a damp expert.

Hope that helps a bit.

Hi Adam,

How is the room ventilated? Do you have windows you can open? Is there central heating, is the room in a basement or a loft? Does the room border a bathroom? Lots of factors effect condensation but if the room is above ground, central heated and well ventalated then it's less likely to be condensation. A dehumidifier is really only needed if you can't ventalate. My experience is as the owner of a damp basement room with ensuite. We had a combination of damp through walls and condensation though mainly condensation. The best thing we did was to get a brilliant fan installed. Windows would have been better but not an option in a basement :(

    • I understand that, but I can't really grasp how it works in practice, but never mind 😵‍💫
    • It's local independent shops supporting one another.
    • Adding my recommendation for Niko too. Found his number on here and he came out at short notice on a busy weeknight to help us with a kitchen sink issue that had flooded our kitchen that day. Really helpful, responsive and went out of his way to fit us in and help us out. Very reasonably priced too - would thoroughly recommend!
    • Looks like it! Though according to the OP, they are "golden, hand-crimped parcels  packed with flavour" 😀 I don't understand. Admittedly my brain is functioning at a very low level at the moment. Does that mean various local shops get together and agree to offer a discount to anyone who shows them a receipt from one of the other ones dated the same day? I can't see what's in it for either of them, unless people shop somewhere they wouldn't otherwise have done just to get the discount. Is it for vaguely  linked things, say cheese from a cheese shop, wine from another shop? Showing my age there.  And then suppose it's always the same shop which people go to second to get the discount? What's in it for the first shop? People go there in order to get the discount in the second shop?
