I was looking for a job and then I found a job and heaven knows I'm miserable now

So it could have been worse.

Unfortunately that's basically the situation I've been in for the last 3 years of my 6 year stay in this job, hence the search. Serves me right for training to do a job that no one has ever heard of, with no kind of ladder to climb... But at least I'm a "professional" :-S

Tough luck Keef, probably just as well though. I hope you find something that suits your skills and they are many. Don't give up and don't let the bastards grind you down. As my dad used to say "always fight fire with fire," which is probably why he was thrown out of the fire brigade.

But you used the phrase "client group" above! Clearly they blew their chances.

Sorry you did not get shortlisted.

I am not in this world of employed/PAYE work at all but MrRose and lots of friends are who also work in public sector and one thing is for sure: the best person for the job will never get the job as long as they don't fulfil criteria laid down by politicians and quangos, and live in the real world.

When they started to call patients "clients" or user groups is when I started to realise me and that world was parting company. No, wait, it was when Personnel became Human Resources.

Keef mate - you ran your flag up the flag-pole and they failed to salute it. Comfort yourself that, if you had been on-boarded, you may well have found a lack of synergy between your aspirations and their vision; leaving you to say:

"F@ck your job"

:))

Hey Keef, if you hate your job, why don't you write a job description for your ideal job, then write your CV around it (if you see what I mean), then send the CV to any organisation/person who might be recruiting for your ideal job?

Just an idea :)

Many jobs aren't filled by advertising them, unfair as that may be.

    • But we’re not in Canada so why celebrate their recent election? Wasn’t their winner our Bank of England director up until his defection to his homeland of Canada? He caused chaos  in this country with his put down of everything British and his many dismal words about the effects of Brexit on this country.
    • I expect that they consider it should be a free choice what to do with your waste, and that segregating it is a waste of money, no doubt it's all a woke conspiracy.  I expect that others are more up to speed with Reform policies. I should have asked Nigel when I was drinking with him.  Well within the vicinity of him in Westminster pubs a couple of times.
    • Let's see how a Leader and party that thrive on division and demonising elements of our society actually do when they have to deliver. Let's hope that the two main parties don't consider that the best way to fight Reform is to become like then. Even less reason to visit the small town where I grew up.  Not a cause for any joy or celebration. Happy to celebrate the Canadian result.
    • The Reform Party has surely taken the Conservatives and Labour by surprise? I’ve been a Conservative voter since the age of 18 and voted for them in the General Election last Summer. Sadly Labour were elected but their policies on so many issues have been their downfall as they did not stick to them.
