We left nearly 2 years ago now. Have met two ex ED residents here (both from this forum) plus a number of "ex" London!

No forum here but a few local FB pages - it's not the same as an actively used forum like this but then there is a fraction of the population here compared to ED.

Don't frequent these pages nearly as much as before but do still take a peek and make the occasional post :)

Fk me don't tell Barber? He uses this place as his reason to push whatever sell out he wants. Oh wait, he knows.

so those of us who have left - what do we miss?

nearly 3 months in for me, so possibly too early to genuinely call

certain individuals and regular haunts a given - but the one thing that pops up on the forum from time to time that makes me sliiiightly green, is mention of the Flying Pig.

i'm well catered for pub wise where I am now, and in no way complaining, but the FP was fresh enough when I left, with some great staff and THAT range of beers.

A member of the site for years, I've only recently started really using it. Now we're considering moving away. I always assumed every neighbourhood in London has a similar forum. Maybe I am na?ve and I shall continue logging in from Brooklyn. Not that I'm moving to NYC, but maybe someone is logging in from overseas?!

this particular one has always been an outlier I think. Plenty of areas have one, but it's arerly so active or mixed

it's why some of us* who have been around from the beginning get so (over) protective of it from time to time

* ok, me

Interesting article El Pibe. Loved the bit about mead. On a recent visit to Penzance in Cornwall I went into an authentic meadery, part of a small local chain of them. They literally had deep fried locally caught fish of various types or glazed whole chunks of barbecued chicken all served with chips and salad - and the key part a jug of mead. I came out absolutely off my face.

Worth a look if you like your authentic beers and real ales too.

Louisa.

We are in a village near Ashford in Kent, Tenterden side. Rural and pretty idyllic. Totally different life to ED but no regrets. It's great having the kids grow up with plenty of outside space to run around in, getting to ride in tractors / combined harvesters and being a short drive from the beach.

It's @ 70 miles away yet takes just 35 mins on HS1 to get to St Pancreas. I only come into the office a couple of times a month these days but it takes just 10 mins longer door to door which is fantastic.

The only part I miss is everything being walking distance. Nothing is walking distance these days but to be honest that's not too inconvenient - other than running out of milk / bread ;)

    • I totally agree with jazzer having been “jumped on” by various members.. I try and help as that is the sort of person I am, but now will try hard  to just read and not reply.. was down right hurtful to have a comment made along the lines that as I was no longer as person supposed, in ED and moved somewhere else should just leave group. No longer sure what sort of people are on this group - certainly not as pleasant as it was 15 years  ago when people were pleasant, helpful and some things were a joke and much more  light hearted. Everyone has a right to their own opinion as it is a public forum- meaning anyone can join from where-ever but c maybe I have got that wrong as well / doesn’t matter as I will probably leave…
    • Doesn’t this business at the tills already happen in some grocery shops?
    • They shot part of an episode of the Bill around Camberwell Old Cemetery, a film set was nothing like this, for a start there were no cameras! Or direction, or site vehicles, or re-takes.
