Thanks guys

I've been trying to put an ad on this site for more business as I've relocated my registered office address, but it's been really difficult trying to speak to Admin or Mark. I've completed the web form but nothing, not even a response..

Any pointers would be a big help please, thanks again..

Au contraire - there is a lot going on in West Dulwich proper; the WD forum gets clogged up with 'cheap kitchens from Runcorn' and 'Moncler ski jackets' spam which puts a lot of people off...

easy now LadyN

I like WD plenty enough, but to say "a lot" going on is a bit overdefensive?

The WDF has never ever been busy - it's traffic spikes coincided when people start threads sniping at ED or EDF

and WD itself doesn't have a beating heart like LL or Rye Lane. And that's ok, that has pluses too. But "a lot going on"? Seems to be pushing it

a lot less bitching than where LadyN

because it sounds to me like it's you who is bitching here

The shops on Croxted Road are fine. As I said I like WD plenty enough. But the shops on Croxted Road - well, they are smaller and more spreadout aren't they? And if you head out of an evening your options are limited right? Again, I'm not saying that's a bad thing - not at all. But "plenty going on" and a "beating heart" it ain't

I'm not quite sure why you think that statement constitutes criticism in any way?

It's like saying the canning, buddha jazz a launderette and a corner shop constitute the beating heart of Denmark Hill Village (pronounced villahsz).

It is a bit of a stretch isn't it.

Clearly west dulwich can do a chip on a sholder just as well as the east side! ;-P

Oh come on, WD is terminally vanilla, it's the Tunbridge Wells of south london

I lived near there for long enough and i'm trying to think what I miss about the place

Erm......ah oh yes

Kurt's Coffee truck

Sausage rolls from the bakery. Actually I do miss the old bakery, when it had those orange lights, orange is my favourite colour

And the bookshop, which I do still use, so technically I don't miss it

I miss waiting at the traffic lights or taking my life in my own hands and crossing the Croxted road and barclays bank is a corker, yeah and the waiting in line in Tesco's

I'm sure there's more

You obviously didn't live near enough Annette Curtain - it's a Lloyds Bank not a Barclays where the staff know me by name (along with all the other shops round here); countdown pedestrian lights at Croxted Road mean you don't have to dodge the cars; I'd rather smell of vanilla than LL....

Bored with this now - you all love ED, I love WD and will vigorously defend it, its beating heart and its plentiful community spirit...

I get the same treatment in HSBC on Victoria Street (Westminster) but I don't live there... dunno what that has to do with how wonderful (or not - depending on opinion) a particular area is if that what your point is? *shrugs*

    • One more while I'm here, although more of the way a word is used, and whilst possibly pedantic it really does annoy me!! "Dilemma" Constantly used to describe any tricky decision, but the definition is a decision with only two options, both of which will have an equally bad outcome.  So a choice of whether to have cake, ice cream or chocolate is NOT A DILEMMA!!! See also "Decimate", which means to reduce by 10%, not just general widespread destruction... 😖
    • So sorry to hear this, makes me so angry that some scumbag thinks they can just take someone's transport, freedom, enjoyment away, and there's so little chance of them being caught or punished adequately.  If you haven't already, register it on BikeRegister and change the status to stolen, hopefully if any responsible person considers buying it then they'll check there first.  Report it to the Police - very little chance they're able to do anything, but it's important for the stats, which may eventually provoke action by the gov? Set up search alerts on Gumtree, eBay & Facebook Marketplace, but try to be as generic as possible - often they are listed as just "road bike" rather than the exact model.  I've also printed out flyers and dropped off at local bike shops in case the bike is brought in for repairs, but not sure how worthwhile that was. Hope this helps...
    • John has done a fantastic job plastering our bedroom. He boarded the ceiling & window bay then plastered both and the two remaining walls.  He always turns up on time and gets straight down to work, and leaves the room clean & tidy after. I thoroughly recommend John for any plastering work.
    • hard agree with fishy there   (oh god now someone is going to say "hard agree" is an annoying phrase)
