Please take heed of this important message and take great care when in Rye Lane.

I have noticed a plague of zombies. Most on foot, you can tell as they look gormless as they walk into the bike lane without looking. Not quite arms in the air, but quite brain dead believe you me. Some of the younger ones have a small pocket computer that they are either looking at, have plugged into their ear or are tapping on the screen. I assume that these ones are taking orders from the zombie general.

A few have appropriated hybrid pushbikes. You can tell the difference from other cyclists as the bikes are normally in black, the zombies similarly dressed in black, and the bikes/riders have no illimuniation when it is the evening. As zombies are not living they don't fear collisons with other road users or pedestrians.

I am not sure whether some also have cars. There are always loads parked on the double yellow lines, but this may just be normal human behaviour - I am sure both humans and zombies may not understand the highway code.

What a shame - I'm sure zombies would have more of a sense of humour or am I missing yours here???

Exactly my point.

The bike lane looks like a pavement so you cannot blame pedestrians that walk into it without looking. I've done it myself on more than one occasion.

And you are right hpsaucey, I don't have much of a sense of humour as far as cyclists are concerned.

I've been nearly run over by them too many times when crossing diagonally with the green man at traffic lights because a lot of them think the red light doesn't apply to them.

Point taken - it's a shame the 'bad one's give the rest of us a bad name...

I was enjoying the zombies analogy though, and all categories - foot/bike and vehicle were being nicely targeted.

My bug bear is where the curb's been extended out turning off Rye Lane near the Rye Hotel. All the buses now go OVER it as it juts out so far.

PLEASE feel free to have a pop at hipsters - I'me sure that would have 'legs'... drainpipe'd cropped trouser legs maybe but ...

Was a day when bicycles had bells to warn pedestrians....

Judging by the amount of idiots riding no hands .. (I've even seen a cyclist on LL. Texting as he went along.)

Would seem a bell on the handle-bars would be of little use.

Would seem for some the only reason bicycles have handle-bars is somewhere to fit the brakes.

DF.

How about the zombies on bikes who stray out of cycle lanes in order to overtake slower moving zombies. Luckily my can horn is loud enough for them to hear.

Or maybe we can just accept that there are plenty idiots on foot, bike, and car? And that to keep safe you just have to learn to expect these things...

So, I read that sombies are now invading most of London.

Note, before I am corrected, troglodytes are not the same as zombies. Pretty similar though.

Warning, for those of you with no sense of humour, please do not follow this thread as you will be confused, perhaps uncomfortable and feel the necessity to correct me, or even launch a counter-attack. That includes the staff at Lordship Lane Carpets.

    • Interesting, because I've been going throughout the past few years with different sets of kids and the parents i'm with have always said it's cold. Also spoke to a couple in passing the past weekend and one even said that's why she never brings her 18 month old because it's too cold. Thanks for your feedback. Maybe it's the room temperature that's throwing me off. But the showers are way definitely way warmer than the pool itself.
