Mounted police are doing high-profile patrols in East Dulwich and Herne Hill to address the high burglary stat concerns in both areas. I had a chat with two of them yesterday on Calton Ave, they'll be patrolling today as well, and both the police and the horses are really friendly.
It is not often realised that on horseback the police get a much better view over fences and into gardens, allowing them to spot lurkers and hiders more easily. This is a better perspective than they can get on foot patrol (not that we see that nowadays very much) and a much better perspective than from inside a car. When the stables were in the Whately Road station they used to patrol quite regularly.

I used to see them almost daily too, when I lived on Oakhurst Grove, the sound of the hooves was quite comforting, but then I have a fondness for horses. I missed them when they left.

I suspect that there isn't a connection, but it's interesting that post-removal of the stables/regular patrols of mounted police, crime does seem to have gone up in the area (or at least our awareness of it on the EDF). It's good that they are increasing patrols though.

See two horses this evening. One,a giant White horse and smaller dark horse, both had WPCs in the saddle. One left a deposit at the corner of Ulverscroft rd and North X. NICE! Then they stopped on the corner of Lacon Rd to talk to pedestrians and let their children stroke the horses

You may also see/hear another horse that I have seen a couple of times in the last year teathered to a lampost, with no saddle, in CPR - first time I thought I was going mad ... all the kids were in the road as I was driving up and I had to stop thinking 'what the hell is happening here' as I couldn't drive past and the kids were photographing the horse on their mobiles...made me laugh as the kids were all excited and it wasnt a police horse... did see it on another occasion in the same place...

    • Hi, The seller has already been restricted from making posts on the forum (including in the For Sale board) straight after you initially reported this. They do however still have access to their private messages so that they can contact you. If its clear that they have no intention of resolving then they will be permanently banned.   I would recommend making contact with the company as you will require evidence that the item is stolen if you plan to report this to the police. If so there is useful information on the Citizen's Advice website: https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/somethings-gone-wrong-with-a-purchase/if-you-think-youve-bought-stolen-goods
    • That's like the cartoon of the person who goes to IKEA for tea lights, comes out laden with stuff and says "Damn, I forgot the tea lights"  😂
    • Have you tried contacting the company the laptop belongs to? I expect they would be interested.....
    • Last week I bought a Galaxy Chromebook Go on this forum, the seller was not home when I went to pick it up, I texted him and he found an excuse apologized and said he could deliver,  I accepted and later that evening he delivered the item in the original box ... all seemed ok until my son (it was supposed to be a present for him) opened it and tried to log in his google account, to our surprise it stated that the laptop was property of a company and could not be used without authorization. We tried to contact the seller, and he initially provided some excuses, but after his initial responses, he stopped replying to our messages. I informed EDForum but no action has been taken as the seller is still present on the forum... I am very disappointed
