Oh fekk, did I have an overhang on Friday morning

A handful of Ibruprofen/paracetamol with half and half flat water/san pellegrino, got me through the first bit

However, halfway during a rather full on meeting I thought I was going to keel over

Nailed it at lunch with a bowl of Pho

Finally nailed it with the 'hair of the dog' later that evening

Irn Bru aside, is there actually a cure tho ?

Actually I think Loz has got the best hangover cure solution! Irn bru still counts tho.

Hope all your old-fashioned hangovers have disappeared by now.

Four pounds I can't believe you made it to soft play with the kids. Willing to have an argument with you about this.

KK I don't think you can get a cure for that :p

Netts dear we missed you and your posh frock. Pho. Like your thinking. Extra chilli.

'The Fear'???

Do elaborate.

Basically a pervasive sense of your own mortality, usually coupled with the heebie jeebies (non specific paranoia and a sense of just missing things at the edges of your vision).

Apparently something to do with the low blood sugar, common or garden sleep deprivation and that alcohol can cause acute depression like symptoms in some chunk of your brain or other.

It's insidious and generally will last all day, long after the more physical symptoms have gone. Sleep is the only cure, though a modest hair of the dog can help alleviate it.

I'll usually get it if there has been more than one session within a few days, a 'compound hangover' if you will.

In this case I've had a couple of leaving drinks with different friends during the week and a fairly hefty one with my brother.

Add to that stress from moving and my little one had an operation a week ago and I'm vaguely amazed I haven't fallen apart at the seams.

I usually drink masses of water. Seems to do the trick, usually feel a bit better within 30 mins.

(Although if you have it san pelligrino seems to feel like its putting little bubbles of energy back into your system, its probably not, but it helps tingle the taste buds back into action).

Yep, necking a load of water before bed is the best way, but usually I can't be arsed and just dive in to oblivion.

I too get The Fear quite badly. Not as badly as I used to though, a few years back I'd be texting all my mates to make sure I hadn't upset anyone, and then get more worried when they didn't respond.

Of course they were all in bed hungover and ignoring their phones, but I never found that out until the following day.

In my pre-UK mad 20's I used to stumble to the bakery round the corner. A chicken and apricot pie and a cream filled iced bun, washed down with a full fat coke, hangover sorted. Other sure fire winner was KFC potato and gravy, sadly not available in this country.

And I wonder why I was fat...

    • There is no other way than to move out. I am in such a situation myself where our neighbours are complete assholes. They breached the Covenants and when we pointed it they said to take them to court if we want.  Unfortunately, they have made our life miserable and we have to move out.    What helped in our situation is having a calm conversation face to face. It only happened after they tasted their own medicine(i know it's mean but nothing else helps).   I know it's unfair but better move out and prioritise your mental health.
    • Thank you so much for the reply. Jeffery turned up a couple of hours ago. I edited title to say found but somehow it didn't save. Thank you so much for going to the trouble of posting this sighting... even if it didn't turn out to be Jeff.  Jeff came running down the street like a bat out of hell and ran into the house. Never been so relieved. Mind you i've been up and down the roads shouting his name out all day. Even in Wingfield street. 🤗
    • I saw a smallish black cat outside 1 Wingfield Street just now.  I am not convinced it was Jeff, the eyes look a little different.
