What would people say the best restaurant is in ED? thanks

Very difficult to say..

How do you compare say an Indian restaurant with a French or Turkish restaurant.

They can also vary on a day to day basis.

What would be your food genre.

I would only be able to comment in Asian / Turkish cuisine.

Never eaten in any of the alternative outlets.

What do you mean by "best"?

And as Fox says, how can you compare - for example - The Palmerston with The Flying Pig, or ToastEd with the Dulwich Tandoori? They're completely different kettles of fish, so to speak.

There are already loads of threads on here about restaurants, maybe have a read of them to see what people think about particular ones?

My favourite restaurants in ED are Tandoori Nights and Thai Corner. And Great Exhibition for a Sunday roast. Franklins, Patch, Palmerston and ToastED are all nice too.

The Thai Corner Cafe is ordinary at best, and the rest of East Dulwich's eateries can be a bit hit n miss... Depends what your idea of 'good' is really

Thai Corner Cafe? Really? ToastED pretty much my fave at the moment. Camberwell is whipping ED's ass with restaurants at the moment though.

Really? In my experience they are both pretty poor, particularly Tandoori Nights.

Had a hideous meal in Franklins a while back - raw pigeon terrine, then chargrilled steak (with a very uniform cross-hatch pattern) which was still frozen inside; even the coffee was dreadful, never been back... (same with Chez Bruce in Wandsworth)...

I would bet the house that Frankins have never served a steak that was frozen inside. I will pay for Lady Norwood to come with me at any random time of her choosing and I guarantee it just won't be the case.

NOT Dulwich Tandoori - booked a table for tonight and they only just called to cancel - no reason or apology. Last time I was there they were inattentive and had double booked others too.

I've never had a duff meal in Franklins either..and we have been back many times over the years.

I must recommend the vineyard in Camberwell grove (octopus for starters is amazing and the moussaka for mains is just DELICIOUS) price is also really reasonable:)

I like K?z - never had a bad meal there, fresh and tasty authentic Turkish food, friendly service, good coffee...

It's between ToastED and Franklins, depending on what sort of meal I'm in the mood for.
