Ted Max
Keef has played an exemplary "Louisa gambit", there. Slag place off = free pint. So, the Bishop is a steaming pile of turd. I wouldn't drink any of the ales, wines or spirits. Nor would I like to try any of the food for free. Definitely not! Ted Max
And as for Franklins... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4192-the-duke/page/5/#findComment-150926 Share on other sites
Keef
I hear the food at The Palmerston is pretty shite too!Scott, I appreciate the offer, and may take you up on it, although I'll buy a pint back (once I am less skint).I don't really know why you'd want to bother though, your place is always packed with punters, and no one can please everyone! I take my "shite" description back, as it doesn't really say what I mean. I have had some nice times out back drinking in the warm weather, and even one or 2 afternoons inside... There are just other places I personally prefer the "vibe" of.My real thing is that I hate it in The Bishop at the weekends, it is just too busy for my liking, not my kind of group, and I don't like the attitude of your doormen (I have never been removed from the place, this is not a bitter man talking).Like I say though, you do great business, and good luck to you, luckily for both of us, there are enough bars in the area to cater for all tastes. DiD
I can't get a handle on this conversation. Am looking for somewhere new for a Sunday lunch with friends and 1 kid -- like the Rye but want a change; hate the Herne. Is the Duke a viable option? Roaring fires in this dastardly cold weather sound lovely. Michael Palaeologus
I wasnt that impressed with The Duke's Sunday Roast - a bit bland I thought and rather pricey. The small portion size of the vegetarian option was laughable.
