MissKing
Very excited to read this. Another reason not to bother straying from SE22 at the weekend! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42423-new-sushi-bar/page/3/#findComment-737357 Share on other sites
NewWave
We had breakfast at Luca's this morning..excellent weekday morning deal, ?2.50 for beautiful scrambled egg on sourdough toast, ?5 for full english..home made beans and real sausages; Great value! While there we were chatting to one of the always friendly staff to ask when they are closing and he informed us that they are now in fact STAYING.Apparently the deal with the sushi bar fell through so Lucas are staying and expanding their bakery offer by the sound of it.Despite being a huge Sushi fan I must confess I was chuffed with the news! KidKruger
Sushi would have been nice, the existing junk is available all day long up and down LL. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42423-new-sushi-bar/page/3/#findComment-737888 Share on other sites

philosophie
Excellent news! I would rather have a coffee and pastry than raw fish too :-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42423-new-sushi-bar/page/3/#findComment-738056 Share on other sites
maxxi
Gosh. A cynic might almost be tempted to say there was never any chance of Luca's closing; that it was a premeditated pr stunt designed to attract attention and positive 'Oh, no - we love it there!' comments to counteract accusations of rude, indolent service and also to boost dwindling customer numbers. But of course it wasn't.ETA: Wonder if news of the demise of EDD, who also sold a lot of tasty-but-overpriced artisan-type bread, has had a bearing on things? NewWave
So strange to me to hear so many comments of rude indolent service at Lucas, we go there for brunch most weekends, and i often pop in during the week and I kid you not..have ALWAYS found the staff charming and friendly.I'm not associated with Lucas in any way so I'm not making it up...Dont get why we should find the service friendly and efficient and so many people bitch about it!BTW is the East Dulwich Deli closing? About time...overpriced and Truly bad service! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42423-new-sushi-bar/page/3/#findComment-738207 Share on other sites
EastDulwicher
Gutted - a massive fan and a regular of Tsunami in Clapham and it would be a great addition to ED - let's hope they find another venue. A Japanese restaurant would be a refreshing change for the area... worldwiser
I never believed this rubbish about Lucas closing. If a sushi bar wanted to open up, there are at least 5 or 6 empty locations on LL they could have (or still could) go for. Glad to see Lucas carrying on. Cedges
?5 for a full English? Have they changed their menu? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/42423-new-sushi-bar/page/3/#findComment-741823 Share on other sites
Mustard
Sounds like they are doing this menu to compete with Pretty's who do a ?5 breakfast meal deal with coffee or tea weekday mornings.
