This is a disgrace, but it is encouraged further by dreadful toy companies such as Matel, who to my horror have recently made a boy doll called Derek who comes complete with 12 pairs of shoes for Barbie (if she can manage to get them off him!). You are right Louisiana, you could not make this up!

Derek the Royal Cobbler - yeah right!

It is a disgrace. Parenting is a minefield.

Its all filth!

This reminds me of a story a friend in Barcelona told me. He worked in a hotel on Meridiana, one of the main local thoroughfares, and they had a regular customer there, who always insisted on taking the same room. They were rather intrigued, so decided to investigate. Took the room apart, searched everywhere, and finally found...an inflatable woman hidden behind the false ceiling in the bathroom. When they confronted him on his next visit, he insisted that he wanted the 'arrangement' to continue!

Oh, I also hide away shoes in different places, so there's never that impression of 'so many shoes', though Mr L always seems to be falling over them. There's one entire chest (3 drawers, stacked shoes) with sandals. Perfect camouflage.

And I have at least two pairs from last year that are still to get an outing (some fairly dressy ones) - just spotted them yesterday. Mr L needs to arrange a suitable outing - dusky pink silk trousers and dressy sandals just won't work on the bike :-S

I could not believe this. What kind of warped minds do they have?

Dear Louisiana,

If you think that is bad, please take a look at Barbie and her dog Tanner that eats biscuits, poos them out and then our darling daughters feed the dog the sickening "dog filth" biscuits again.

I was horrified when I saw my baby open her birthday presents! The filth and horror goes on and on though - they have also a cat Mika that piddles in a sand filled 'litter tray'.

It is a disgrace. My daughter shall never clean up after her pets in reality - why do we have au pairs afterall?

Pass the smelling salts! As a friend pointed out to me recently, they will have bulemic Barbie next, that wolfs down Krispy Kreme do nuts, and then press her tummy and hey presto - she purges!

Dear Louisiana,

I would love to lie and agree with you, but I am afraid that I was given one for Mothers day (yellow is sooo fadish, and will never be a classic) but I have invested in another uber bag since, and I have to say, a girl can really never have enough hand luggage!

Anyhow, my bags have been suffering a huge amount of wear and tear lately, what with having to lug Mr Batdog around with me everywhere ... until he escaped!

This is the bit I like: "He found that fashionable ? to him ? and sexually attractive shoes were to be found in greater abundance in the capital."

It reads as if the lawyer is quibbling with the fashion aspect but taking the sexual attraction as read.

(Sadly, that I like this bit in particular speaks volumes about me.)

Dear Shambles,

It really is him isn't it? He has been dognapped and is living in the USA! Where did you find it?

Louisiana, I would hate to expose myself here - but I have in excess of 70 pairs, many still in the boxes - I just love upmarket boxes, with their little shoe stretching appliances, shoe horns and shoe bags - simply heaven.

I love LK Bennett and Hobbs for workwear, but I recently bought several pairs of strappy Gina sandals and some super black Conolly car shoes - still concealed in the boot of the car. There is a special place in my heart for Jimmy Choo boots (I shall never buy ugly Uggs). Shoe shopping is always a feel good activity as I never feel I have to loose weight to wear new shoes or bags!

    • Disclaimer, some of the later  SMB stuff is insipid but I like this.  I
    • I'm pleased to have gone onto a meter as it has saved us money.  When first fitted we found there was a leak and TW replaced the old lead pipe with plastic (we had to pay the last few metres into the house but some geezer did this at a fair price). No doubt others have positive experiences too.   Otherwise I'm no fan of the private utilities but that shouldn't colour our opinions.
    • I recall that when the meter was installed it it was not set at zero. Presumably it had come from elsewhere or was a recon one.    Same here. I phoned TW today to ask if there was a meter at our property (even though I knew there was) and I was told quite categorically that there was not and that our bill was calculated on RV value When I asked why we used to get our meter readings shown online in our account, It they could not provide an explanation. Our RV value according to TW is 547 which equated to a 4-5 bedroom property with a large garden. With just two of us living here then our consumption must be well below the expected volume. Given the facts, I am totally convinced no that TW have an algorithm that hides the actual meter readings when the actual consumption is below the RV based consumption suggesting they are a bunch of shameless rogues!!
    • Let me get this straight . The OP  was hit from behind by a small person out of control on a bike whose father was not only not watching him but could not watch him, because he was not in a position to see him. Are you disputing that "side of the story"? Why would someone who rarely posts on here come on here to post that? Then the OP remonstrated with the father. What would you have done in that situation?  You seem absolutely determined to put the OP in the wrong.  What exactly is your motive in doing that? Do you always assume that someone is lying when you haven't heard "both sides of the story"? Do you always disbelieve anything you are told because there are so "many possibilities"? The father in question is hardly likely to come on here to defend his lack of care of his child, is he?  And btw there were no "casual onlookers". The people who laughed were apparently the child's father and those with him. Who did not witness  "someone being smacked into by a 4 year old on a bike" because the child was out of their line of sight. It seems that you can't even get right something which is posted on a forum and there in writing for all to see. Let's hope you are never called as a witness in a court case.
