Garden centres near/in ED?

East Dulwich gardeners... Where do you buy your plants and supplies from? Is there anywhere local worth a look? I just got some tomato plants from the flower shop by the plough, but there isn't a huge selection. Any tips?

We use Shannons Garden Centre in Forest Hill.

I don't drive so they are all a bit of a mission to get to. Such a shame there doesn't seem to be much in ED itself...

Both Alleyns and Croxted Park will deliver, and are small enough to be able to discuss what you want/need over the phone. Not sure about Shannon's, but you could give them a ring...

And the lovely pot and plant place right next door to north dulwich station. They deliver too. We live in Peckham and can get to it by bus or train very quickly.

There's the flower shop by The Barcelona tapas bar on lordship lane near where the old harvester building is on that row of shops there, he always has a large selection of bedding plants & some shrubs, and planters with flowers already in outside, I bought a nice selection of heathers for winter window boxes there, and geraniums in the summer.

I second mancity78 and nxjen, the garden center next to north dulwich station is great. really friendly and good selection. You can catch the 37 bus from nearby stop.

The 176 goes near Alexandra Nurseries in Parish Lane in Penge, they also have a nice tea room.

There's a brilliant plant stall in the North Cross Road market today. Perrenials, annuals, herbs, and veg.

He comes from a nursery in East Sussex, and promises to be back next week.

Love this forum, searched for 'bedding plants' got this thread, been to Shannon's, very impressed, great selection, nice staff. If driving from east dulwich to catford on south circular turn left at the Railway Tavern by tops tiles in forest hill.

I'm gardening all over the show at the moment and do several jobs in ED (big & little e.g. Lordship Lane, Townley Road, Red Post Hill and Turney Road.)

I get many of my 'average plants' from New Covent Garden and my 'bling plants' from Provender in Swanley.

If you want good plants I can get them for you and even plant them as you wish.
