Homecraft DIY , Lordship Lane

Recommended Posts

Fair point Bob, however I beleive that DaisyChain got 3 and not 5 as she had asked for... which according to the colours you show isn't as drastic as 1 to 3 as shown (but then again maybe I am Colour blind)

Either way, it sounds like an accidental mistake, the shop has rectified it (in terms of new paint) and at the end of the day there is not a lot that should occur apart from allowing DaisyChain the chance to let off steam over the situation (careful you don't lift the lining paper when you let off steam !!) ;-)

If only we knew the actual colour that daisychain had chosen, Bob could create a whole reconstruction of the crime, possibly in 3D.

I for one would enjoy it immensely, and would enjoy the ensuing 10-page row over which shade was actually better and went with daisychain's curtains..

Personally, I think LuvPeckham would be wise to opt for 'night jewels 5' on all the walls except for the far wall - which we can accent with 'volcanic splash 3'.

As for Jimbob, we might as well do all his walls black and the ceiling lime green - it seems he's not fussy.

dont even think about going near my orange sunset walls, robin redbreast red coving and sexy pink ceiling.

The 'tarragon' swatch is not to my particular taste.

At home, we have opted for a more subtle range of colours.

The hallway is bottled quim 4, with rice pudding on the ceiling (from the 'Edwardian Desserts' selection). The lounge is angry mouse 2, except for the chimney breast wall (cleft palate 4). Upstairs is mostly shades from the bloater swatch - complimented by rancid wax (eggshell) on the half-panelling.

Hey Bob - Don't tell everyone what colour my house is, otherwise they will all want to visit...

Personally it is Picture Gallery Red on the accent wall, as it makes the life size naked plaster figurines of myself stand out so much better, and the 5000 candle watt spot lights aimed at the right 'areas' make the whole effect even more stunning... (6)

Now that we have discussed and identified my 'artistic' tastes, shall we get back to the discussion in hand ?? :)

I revise my earlier posting from the 'Seen anyone famous in East Dulwich' thread, Jeremy isn't Jason at all, he is Sid James re-incarnated with comments like this !!! ("Carry on giving ED" anyone ?)

I just want to comment further in support of Homecraft DIY. I've been in there lots, I am a DIY dick, they are always really good and often save me a fortune by pointing out that I don't need to buy a whole new thing but can repair what I've got, use a different but cheaper tool etc.

In future, DON'T USE HOMECRAFT!!! They are over priced, hugely. They are rude. They are unhelpful. When I first moved to the UK in 1987 we lived in East Dulwich which was a VERY different place I can assure you. Yet even THEN that place was a joke. I really don't know HOW they have stayed in business, the only thing I can think of is it's close proximity to Dulwich Village and the wealthy, naive (when it comes to "budgeting" at least)) people who live there. You NEVER see trades people in there.

In the future, use the DIY shop further down Lordship Lane, opposite the Bishop. They are not the cheapest, but they are CHEAPER (not difficult) and they are FRIENDLY, and I've seen them dealing with people who don't know much about DIY and they don't condescend them or try to sell them crap they don't need.

Take it from me, BOYCOTT HOMECRAFT!!!!

Have enjoyed reading all the feedback - especially Bob's attention to the colour charts - the chosen colour was Sultana Spice 5 Bob - and very nice it is too - goes with the curtains perfectly thanks very much. Have calmed down since the initial furore - am still ?160 out of pocket for the carelessness of Darren at Homecraft (thanks Daz) but for the sake of my blood pressure / life's too short etc. will pursue paint revenge no more. Here endeth the lesson.
