Dear Dulwichmum

Don't be afraid just take a look. Do you not get this glossy magazine through your door or is your house not worthy? It mentions you ,spy, posh and others and how you should all get round to these funky trendy shoe shops of dulwich instead of going in town. Thanks again for your help about the plunger, need more help now, can you recommend a company that installs these fantastic descending carports?

K :))

Darling Karter,

Check out this url for the carport of your dreams!

I have read the article now in Dulwich Life, and I wouldn't mind, but I took Ana and the children in to that shop last Thursday to buy them all some sensible Crocs shoes for the summer - enormous flat plastic functional shoes are such a good look on an attractive young au pair don't you think? I even ended up buying myself some Crocs (although I have thrown mine in the coal hole since - what was I thinking?). I bought four pairs of Crocs on Thursday, and bought sweet badges galore to go on every pair, and even took James back to get a pair on Saturday - he is off to The West Indies or somewhere next week to see a cricket match and will need some beach type shoes.

I wonder if he will meet darling Mr Batdog?

I wasn't to know the woman in Stella B wanted me to introduce myself. I am sure she knew who I was though, she kept saying, - "so your children are called Max and Freya, and your au pair is called Ana?" What was I supposed to say?

"Clearly."

DM

Dear D-Mum,

My caribbean retreat is far away from cricket and other modern technologies and entertainments, so unless he sails to my private island, I seriously doubt we'll meet.

Unfortunately this magazine on Dulwich Life that you and karter have read doesn't come to the high hills of ED and never heard of it before.

Do they have a website ? (tu)

Keef.

Didnt see that earlier post. I think you have me mixed up with someone else B) Guy from Healthmatters? Next time i'l buy you a beer and introduce myself or perhaps if you think you recognize me you could introduce yourself and buy me a beer?

I think that this thread is changing rather, Keef and Karter play guess who?

What has happened to DM?

    • I’m not a Gail’s fan but there’s no reason a business shouldn’t open on Christmas Day. However, nobody should be compelled to work the day which, given the widespread coverage of Gail’s questionable employment practices, has to be a possibility here.  The only business I ever use on the 25th is maybe a pub and that’s a rarity these days but buses running would be very welcome for visiting etc. But the swings in the park should definitely remain chained up. Are parks even open on Christmas Day?
    • To be honest, pal, it's not good being a fan of a local business and then not go there. One on hand, the barber shop literally next door to Romeo Jones started serving coffee. The Crown and Greyhound and Rocca serve coffee. Redemption Coffee opened up not far away, and then also Megan's next door to that. DVillage was serving coffee (but wasn't very popular), as was Au Ciel (which is). Maybe also Heritage Cheese, I don't know. There's also Flotsam and Jetsam doing coffee and sandwiches at Dulwich Picture Gallery in the other direction. The whole of Dulwich Village serves coffee. And yet on the other hand, there are enough punters to support all good coffee shops. With the exception of Rocca and Megan's (which are both big spaces) and C&G (which does coffee like everything else - slow and with bad service), all these places regularly get queues out the door. Gail's often has big queues and yet very few people crossed the street to Romeo Jones (which was much better)... Half the staff at Gail's are perfectly fine and efficient. The other half are pretty offhand and rude. It's certainly not welcoming or friendly service. But they're certainly hard working, and no doubt raking the money in for Luke Johnson...
    • Well according to a newspaper article, Gail’s is opening 10 shops in London,,, yup Dulwich is named 10/5 I seem to recall with others in London opening at 7 am…!, Guess that is to capture workers coming off all night shift. Offering free mince pies until they run out.. So very sad to hear about Romeo Jones… been a customer since the opening, any idea where Patrick has gone or details… please pm me.    What is going to be in its place…. Will be around in Jan…umm village is changing….
    • interesting the police said "the car was in demand at the moment" what make/model is that?
