Nigello
The thread about the Nigel Farage poster being defaced got me thinking about what is the best way to vent your frustration or show your support as regards politicians. So, who's voting? (I have done, via a postal vote, for both local and European elections.) Earl Aelfheah
If you don't vote, you've no business moaning about things. And I really like to moan. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44534-whos-voting/#findComment-748425 Share on other sites

Ladygooner
Already done a postal vote. It would be so much easier if voting happened on Sundays like in Europe - instead of having to go before or after work Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44534-whos-voting/#findComment-748450 Share on other sites

El Pibe
I've had some fun with the canvassers tying to teach me the political landscape here."we're the republican party" - oh cool, which ones are the monarchists then?"we're for a strong ireland" - really? I was hoping to vote for the party seeking to undermine it.I'm none the wiser as far as differentiating the parties goes, but apparently having functioning sperm/womb and affiliation to the GAA are the sole requirements for local office, weirdly. Loz
You don't need it - just tell them your name and address. If you can take proof of those, even better.Voting in the UK is rather insecure, I think. El Pibe
i do find it a bit weird the insistence that a party name has to be gaelic, given the inability of the vast majority to speak more than about three words. If there was a cultural imposition that x in the UK had to be done in old saxon for political show, I'd find that probably a bit disturbing. Not sure why noone finds it so here*. *mostly because they don't care for the most part, but then apathy in the face of political malaise is hardly unique to the republic! uncleglen
Yes the voting is insecure- last time there were cases of people turning up at the polling station and giving their names and addresses and finding that people had already used their ballot papers! Dipping your finger in indelible ink is a good idea- and a sign that you have actually voted- which we all should do of course- even though most politicians are self-serving, vote-chasing imbeciles! LadyDeliah
Green in both. I encourage everyone to vote, because the politicians will ignore the needs of any group of people who don't. Alan Medic
How many people can you vote for in each election? If I based my Euro vote on how many MEP's bothered to put some time into dealing with a problem I had, having emailed them all at once, I'd be voting UKIP & Conservative. I won't be though. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44534-whos-voting/#findComment-748683 Share on other sites
