There was some previous discussion on and interest in this out-of-print book (by John Beasley) here in the past (I can't make search work, so can't cross-link to the appropriate thread/s)!

John tells me that the book (a slightly new edition) is now available again from Chener Books (14 Lordship Lane) at the bargain price of ?3.50 (it was more expensive when it was previously available)!

In celebration of their 30th anniversary, the shop arranged to have the book reprinted. It should be available until the end of the year.

This here SE22 magazine, what's that about? etc etc

Moving on from that it's the first I've heard of such a magazine. Where does one get that from?

I think you have to live in SE22! I live in SE15 and get one called - wait for it - SE15. It's a bit rubbish (full of ads and mostly useless articles) but it to has similar excerpts about the origin of street names in SE15 - also by John!

I don't know about anyone else but I'll be barging all and sundry (especially the bloody sundry) out of my way tomorrow to get to Chener Books for this. I'll hurl the money at the book wizard of Cheners and probably leave a tip, what's more.

Can't blooming wait. Well done Cheners, well done John Beasley.

In the words of young Mr Grace, "You've all done very well"

    • I would phone ahead to check whether they are accepting donations. I’ve been in the shop a couple of times over the past few years and seen people turned away with book donations. There are a few parking spaces outside the row of shops there and it’s sometimes pot luck but I’ve usually parked ok. Let us know how it goes Sue.   l
    • Hussein and his team have just finished painting our main reception room, kitchen and hallway throughout the house. We also threw a few extra curve balls in while we were away like painting the front door, garden walls and helping fit some new lights. Hussein is a pleasure to deal with: professional, diligent, trust worthy, flexible and a really nice bloke. This is the second time we have worked with him and will definitely do so again.
