junebug
Hi, my baby has just got her two bottom teeth through last week. The first week of breastfeeding was fine but today she really bit me a few times this morning. I literally screamed which made her laugh and then she did it again. Does anyone know if there's anything you can do to stop it happening, or is it maybe because she's not used to the teeth and so will stop very soon (she says hopefully)? Otherwise I think this is the beginning of the end of my breastfeeding time! Thanks! yeknomyeknom
It doesn't stop really. They mostly do it when they are actually teething as it soothes them. Whatever you do you can't react. If they think it's fun they will do it more. Little blighters. Lindsey<3
I breastfed til my daughter and 15 months old and she only bit me like a handful of times when she started getting her teeth. Try not to make a big deal so they dont see it as a game if that makes sense ? Stop feeding for a second every time they bite you xx Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/45389-breastfeeding-and-biting-ouch/#findComment-754170 Share on other sites
Bumpkin
I seem to remember it happening once but I gave a very firm no and he didn't do it again. Just say no firmly and end that feed straight away and she'll get the message. junebug
Thanks everyone! I'm going to give it a week and see what happens. I really don't think that I could not react as it was a reflex scream! Fingers crossed she gets bored of this new game! Pickle
Use your little finger to immediately break her latch, and firmly say no. They usually learn and stop doing it. shaunag
What Pickle said. Reacting always got a laugh from my two. Broken latch is easier for them to understand as a no no. Hope she stops! ladyruskin
Exactly as Pickle and shaunag say. My son did this a few times but, after the first couple of times when I screamed and he laughed, I would firmly say no and break his latch. GinaG3
What pickles said. I breastfed until 2 and my daughter was somewhat spiteful with her biting. Try to nip it in the bud quickly and without reaction, I know that's hard!
