I liked it, and was always served quickly and politely. I liked the cakes and the discounted breakfast. I really do hope that Boulangerie Jade won't just do pastries for breakfast: I've ever seen the attraction of eating cake as first meal of the day. The Barry Road caff closed and was replaced with a "French bakery" so I hope this isn't a case of history repeating itself.

They are here, and have been for some time on Barry Road. Do you mean they are expanding into Lucas shop?

Agree with Nigello, although I like the fancy cakes at Boulangerie Jade, we don't go very often - don't want to get diabetes!. We used to go to Homemade on Barry rd once a week because they had lots of different stuff. The service for me at Lucas is fine. Not exceptional but fine. I enjoy the midweek breakfast deal and happily pay the full price if we go at the weekend. The cakes are good (not fancy) and priced accordingly. Would be sad to see it go as we are running out of savoury breakfast places that use decent bread.

We ate breakfast there yesterday,

no mention of it closing.

actually NEVER had terrible service, and yesterday had a lovely Australian girl serve us who was really efficient chatty and upbeat.

They had a fantastic indian or nepalese chef who did THE best scrambled eggs and curries.

he left a few weeks ago and the breakfasts just haven't been as good BUT still tastier and better value than most places in ED.

We'd be devastated if it turned into a patisserie place,We don't do cake for breakfast, Used to always breakfast at The Gardens, When that closed moved to Lucas....EEEEEK am I jinxed!

It's another branch. Current branch will remain as it is - I'm pleased about that.

Hey guys, just a quick one. We are opening our doors as Boulangerie Jade very shortly and we are going to be having a cooked breakfast/brunch/lunch menu!

Stay tuned for more information later in the week, this will not be affecting our Barry Road store they will exist alongside each other!

All our best, Boulangerie Jade.

    • I also wonder if all this, recently events and so many u turns is going to also be the end of Kier Starmer.
    • And I replied: Mandelson and Trump have much in common. They are both shallow, vulgar and vain. They both fetishise wealth and power, irrespective of who holds it or how it was accumulated. They were both close friends and associates of the late Jeffrey Epstein and have moved in the same circles, as Ghislaine Maxwell’s address book allegedly confirms. Recognising another who is utterly transactional and lacking in a moral compass, there’s every chance of “Petie” fitting right in Mar-a-Largo. That Starmer couldn’t anticipate that Mandelson’s past behaviour would be problematic just proves how inept this government is.
    • Can't agree with that because he is a superb communicator - a really smart and  smooth talker. He studied PPE at Oxford and was communications director for Labour for many years.  Setting aside the "minor"  indiscretions during his time in government he has all the smoothness and ability to flatter Trump without appearing obsequious. Plus he can manage and exploit  Trump’s ego. He is highly polished socially, comfortable in elite circles, skilled at making personal connections. He can flatter and disarm, which is a useful tactic with Trump, who responds well to personal respect and praise. As a former EU Trade Commissioner and Cabinet minister, Mandelson understands international relations, trade, and diplomacy. He knows how to frame issues in terms of “wins” that Trump could claim credit for. I honestly hope that he survives.
    • He is toast  he should never have been appointed  and starmer flannelling about all of this shows exceptionally poor judgement  a disgrace all around
