Management Agents... small block of flats

Recommended Posts

We bought our freehold some years ago and after managing things ourselves since, are now looking for a Management Agent to do this work for us...

Given that we bought the freehold in part to rid ourselves of some rather horrendous agents, we're understandably nervous about going down this route, but can't keep doing it all ourselves.

Does anyone know of some lovely, efficient, preferably local managing agents who will help????

Any suggestions very welcome!

Problem you have is that they are all understandably in it to make money. The larger ones actually often charge less as they have scale which is at odds with "small, friendly, local" which do not.

The law still gives MA's the upper hand to charge for all kinds of things legally, whatever the leasehold tribunal body might claim. I basically view it as an unregulated industry and it can be a nightmare as a result.

Cant you work out a way to organise yourselves better to handle the admin? Its far prfeerable and you've already done well to get the freehold back.

H4 - how did you get on? Any luck finding anyone?

I'm in the same boat. The management of the flats is currently run by me and I'm finding it hard to find the time to fit it all in. Sometimes it feels like a full time job.

If anyone could recommend a company I would appreciate it

I use a company called Urban Owners, and in the unregulated shark infested waters of property management overall they aren't to bad, you can choose the package that suits your situation, I went for the admin assist and found the service most helpful. here is the link:

Thank you thank you!!!

I'll follow up the leads and get back to you CPFC fan - there's another recommendation I've had elsewhere for Hindwoods in East Dulwich... will also be worth a call I hope

fingers crossed. It is a full time job at times! don't think anyone quite envisaged how much we were taking on when we were fighting to buy the freehold!!

    • I would like to recommend Aaron, who has just finished 5 days plastering work in my house. He is professional , polite, tidy, punctual and reliable. He did a fantastic job, a good price and a top quality finish. Highly recommended! Aaron Manser 07773 410661
    • Sadly, but not unreasonably, councils find it difficult to justify such expenditure on their current budgets. My family, which does like fireworks have been enjoying the displays by those still with disposable wealth by viewing them from Hilly Fields. Other hills (Dawson Heights) are available. For children who have autumn and winter birthdays, a firework display is some consolation for their birthday climate. My grandchildren, being summer babies, can enjoy garden parties and picnics. Without the need for explosions and dazzling display.
    • Hey - I’ve got a spare adult ticket if you want it?
    • Not sure what you mean by "involved with firework enjoyment"? I'm all for others enjoying themselves, and I like fireworks, but if they were limited to public displays then people could still enjoy them? Having said that, I see that tickets for the London New Year fireworks start at £20 (Dawson's Heights it is,  then!) The fireworks in Brockwell Park used to be free. I don't know why those don't happen any more?
