Some unfair comments here but yes, it's true we don't addresses of refuges listed here. In the past there have been a few posters who work in social services or nursing who have accepted items for local refuges and they are always very grateful. I used to donate things via my health visitor. I hope you find somewhere to donate them.

There is a national campaign called Give and Make Up: http://www.carolinehirons.com/p/give-and-makeup.html

They accept donations from all over the country and will redistribute them to women's refuges in need of products. I do a shoebox every Christmas for them - they'd be happy to take your stuff!

It's ok to send things that are opened or part-used, they will still pass them on as long as they are useable.

Hi, I work for Solace Women's Aid in Southwark. I obviously cannot give out address of refuges but can give you details of our workers in refuges who could take the items. If you would like to email me on my work email at [email protected] I can give you more information :)

Thanks

    • I think giving toiletries, as well as food, is a great idea.  The issues around partly-used items are to do with hygiene, dignity, etc.
    • Another very strong recommendation for Oddbods. They were extremely responsive, very clear with quotes, suggestions and ideas, willing to work within my budget where possible and very swift and polite once working in my flat. I had various sets of floating shelves installed (including them fixing up a half-finished, slightly failed home diy attempt from us), a rotten cupboard shelf replaced and new set of hinges installed on a cupboard door. We're really pleased with their work, it looks great. They suggested a few little extra details on the work, which were so appreciated and made everything look even neater.   Easily, the best handypeople I've ever worked with. Strongly recommended.
