Women's refuge nearby?

Hi, I have been sorting out and I have some beauty products that I'd like to donate to a women's refuge. Does anyone know of somewhere nearby that accepts donations like this? Thanks

There was a collection point near where I used to live, just wondered if the same type of thing existed here. Sounds like we don't have the same thing here, but thanks for the thought of Barry Road.

Housing associations often liaise with refugees and might be a good access point.

Helen... was very specific about who she wanted her beauty products to go to. Aren't a refuge for women and refugees two different things? Someone in a refuge could be your ex next door neighbour.

Some unfair comments here but yes, it's true we don't addresses of refuges listed here. In the past there have been a few posters who work in social services or nursing who have accepted items for local refuges and they are always very grateful. I used to donate things via my health visitor. I hope you find somewhere to donate them.

I called the barry road hostel the other day with a view to volunteer some time and donate goods to help out, they said they have two store rooms that are full of donated goods which is good news really. The team there really do a decent job.

Why not call women's Aid and they might help you? Refuge addresses are kept confidential.

All depend what you call beauty products - if they are clearly unused/new - should be all right but may not take due to possible contamination.

FareShare in Bermondsey used to deliver to a refuge, I used to do the route. Try them?

There is a national campaign called Give and Make Up: http://www.carolinehirons.com/p/give-and-makeup.html

They accept donations from all over the country and will redistribute them to women's refuges in need of products. I do a shoebox every Christmas for them - they'd be happy to take your stuff!

It's ok to send things that are opened or part-used, they will still pass them on as long as they are useable.

You can find the telephone numbers of local refuges on the Women's Aid website (search by borough I think). I contacted one in Streatham in the past and directly donated some clothes and makeup for which they were very appreciative

Hi I have donated all sorts of things to Bede House who run women's shelters in Southwark. They are lovely and their office is near Decathalon in Surrey Queys. They were very happy to accept donations of clothes, bedding, blankets, toys etc. Give them a call on 020 7237 3881.
