At 5pm this afternoon whilst jogging on the rye I was stopped by two kids (age 11) who were terrified and begging for help. One was being held by a lad on a bike who was trying to get his phone. Another group of kids were fast approaching across the field undeterred by me. The kids were visibly shaking as theyd just been threatened with a knife.

I prised the kids apart and scared off the kid on bike and escorted the kids home. We spoke to the police who went off to look for then.

As a warning to parents, Apparently this is not the first time the group has tried to mug these boys. they hang around in the adventure playground and skate park area often and regularly mug kids there. According to the kids, the ring leader is apparently well known to police and has previous for assault (he's 15!!!?)

Sad day when kids can't play out away from parents but suggest your kids avoid that place.

Oh I'm shocked and it was brave, no mind anything else, for you to step in like that. The poor little boys and it's scary about the other kids! I hope you're okay - it must have been scary even if you were the adult - I'd worry that I'd freeze in fright in a situation like that!

This is all horrible and well done for helping the kids. Can I just say that Terry who runs the adventure playground makes sure that the kids in there behave themselves - I've never seen any trouble in the grounds there as he's pretty quick to sort things out and there are strict rules. It sounds as though these kids are causing trouble outside and in the vicinity of the adventure playground(?) Might be worth going and having a chat to Terry as he would probably keep an eye out if he knows whats going on?

Hopefully descriptions form the poor victims and you and the fact that the culprits are sadly known for this behaviour will mean they are caught pretty damn quick.

My boyfriend was there with his lad a couple of weeks ago. He was walking up Adys road and two young lads came past on bikes and were really staring at them both. A girl was with them too, but slightly behind. They then came back and in to the play park. He said they left because he just felt real uneasy with they way they were behaving.
ok well done guys, time to dish up everything you have seen!!! We need to spot these guys immediately. Height, colouring, clothing, types of bikes (cycles) anything) numbers. Once we know, we can pin these cowards down because that is what these bullies are - cowards. OK now we know this- lets go and get our kids' lives back and show them that right is right OK adults lets do it....

I'd like to do a story on this for the Southwark News. It might be useful in helping to catch the culprits but also warn people, especially youngsters, about the issue.

I'll contact the police but it would be useful to talk to people who have had first hand experience of this. You can email me at [email protected] or call me on 0207 231 5258.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks very much

    • Was planning to come on here to ask if anyone might know which celeb/royal came through Lordship Lane yesterday - was on my way up to Spurs, on bus at the roundabout by the EDT when some whistling police cyclists pulled the traffic to the side of the road to allow a biggish range rover to shoot past, on the way up towards Dog Kennel Hill. Could only make out two, maybe middle-aged, men in the front before it passed. Mildly hysterical lady on pavement was laughing/screeching with her friend that they were desperately trying to find out who it was. Had more reason to post after this lunchtime's experience. Had just got to bus stop opposite the M&S by the station when some mini cooper thing bombed through the traffic, swerving across to cut up another car to get up the hill, before two or three police cars followed about 20 seconds behind. Said mini cooper thing then reappeared coming the other way, beeping its horn to get other cars out the way before it bombed up what I think was Elsie Road, with police cars now on both sides of the road by Maxin trying to stop traffic getting in the way/half the speeding car. Bit more than I had bargained for when I set out/want in local area! Stay careful out there folks, this place is getting scarier...
    • The stop outside the chippy was still closed earlier today, although the barriers I saw yesterday have been removed, so no need for the closure.  The stop outside the church across the road is now uncovered and open
    • You all have different and conflicting interests though. It isn't necessarily appropriate for him to communicate with all of you at the same time about the same issues.    You're giving more away with each post as to how these difficulties probably arose.
    • @CPR Dave He needs to communicate collectively with all of the beneficiaries.  That is the whole point of my original post.  Electronic communications are the best way of doing this, as I am doing now on this forum.  Apart from the gold digger who will get a six figure sum the rest of us are on four figures, and that is going down by the day. I'm offended by any suggestion that we are not behaving well.  What on earth do you mean?
