Cat People - How to stop other cats spraying in my house ?

Recommended Posts

Good morning East Dulwich Forum

As the title says, we have a problem with cats coming into our house and spraying.

We have a cat, who has had the "chop" and we leave part of a window open (securely) so he can get in and out during the day.

The spraying has got worse and we can smell it as soon as we get in.

Has anyone else had this problem or know of a way to resolve it ?

Unfortunately we are unable to do that, Glass doors.

Get one of those MASSIVE kids pump action water guns/pistols, they hold about 1.5 lts

Fill it with water, and the vinegar from a pickled onion jar

Scope out that cat, and spray the fekk out of it with your gun. It's strangely satisfying, I shot a neighbours cat right up the rear end, as it scarpered

Then, over the next few days, go round and 'scent' the areas with the cat-cocktail, shooting the cat liberally when sighted

It's a kind of aversion therapy, as when the vinegary/onioned cat washes, it's remind of the fun you've had warning it off

After a thread a while back I now have a couple of old washing up liquid bottles standing by the back door, filled with early morning pee specimens and a soupcon of raw garlic, and I send a quick spray towards cats that want to use my garden as a public convenience. I also spray it around the gate posts. There's a lot less cat and fox poo to clear up these days.

Having a slash in the garden is strangely satisfying. Best done at night tho, neighbours get a bit weirded out otherwise

The washing up bottle method, with fermenting garlic, would keep King Kong at bay I reckon. And much as i'm curious as to how she fills said bottles, i'll pass at the details

    • You might be interested in watching this video on you tube. It's from a wildlife gardener called Joel Ashton who regularly posts about his work in that area. Being interested in that kind of thing I follow him a lot. Anyway, a few days ago he posted about his plants being deliberately poisoned allegedly by his neighbour. He is going through the process of taking legal action and videoing this journey. There is another follow up which he posted a couple of days ago . It might be helpful to you. I think I should point out that the alleged culprit is not identified on the video so not breaking any privacy laws in sharing this.
