Sorry, not time to map this properly but basically I head across Peckham Rye Park - Over to Somerton Road, Left down Waveney, Right along forester road, on to Linden Grove and past the cemetery, over the double mini roundabout, along St Asaph Road, round past Brockley station onto Malpas Road, all the way until you get to New Cross Road. Right turn here a bit tricky, but can usually get out with a car crossing, then can either head up onto Greenwich High Road and into Greenwich, or turn left onto Deptford Church Street, onto Creekside and then right on the A200.

From there, in theory, there are ways on the Thames Cycle Path but I tried that the other day to get to near the 02 and it was an absolute nightmare, terrible signage, construction works in the way. If anyone's got good suggestions for that bit would love to hear them!

Much of the centre of Greenwich and Thames path were cordoned off, and there were hordes of people, but plenty of marshals to keep everyone in order and still a good afternoon out. The tall ships bring the history of Greenwich and the Thames to life in a way I hadn't anticipated.

For anyone else who hasn't yet cycled that way, like a lot of journeys in London it actually feels nearer by bike, and you get to see bits that you wouldn't from a bus (partly due to poor map-reading skills in my case).

    • These neighbours dislike trees period. They refused to have lost trees replaced by the Estate on our communal green. They don’t like the leaf and seed droppings. These make the grass look ‘messy’. Similarly, they don’t like my policy of leaving the tree leaves where they lie on the grass verge - hence chopping the overhanging branches. It’s like living in the 1950s. My neighbours have three gardeners with leaf blowers who come twice weekly to remove every leaf from their front lawns. Their grass is cut weekly and all the  cuttings put in multiple brown bins. It’s an outdated mindset of the moneyed classes in my view. But sadly, I’m very much in the minority.
