These aren't academic researchers they are commercial companies or freelancers who get paid for this - the one whose constantly using the forum doesn't even have the decency to go in the right section. (and I suspect they aren't local anyway). can't they get a ban?

Um, I guess that's why my posts got deleted, I was trying to figure it out. Genuinely didn't realise I was doing the wrong thing, sorry! (And hello quids, we've actually met before in person at a poker game, but no hard feelings). I am indeed a freelancer, and getting paid for it (and a fairly long time forum member under a different name), but not sure I understand why this is bad? If it makes a difference, I do this for museums or educational organisations, not giant corporates looking to find better ways to flog you stuff.

But mainly I just need lots of people to respond, and last time I got a great (and friendly) response from this forum and others, and people are usually quite happy to be interviewed afterwards and compensated for their time so I thought this was a good place to post. Of course I won't post again if it's against forum rules, I wouldn't have done so if I'd realised. Would be great if someone could explain why it is though, and which section I should have posted in. Thanks! Would rather you didn't ban me, though, ta.

Oh, just seen bit in terms of use about "Abuse of this site for commercial gain" which I guess you feel this would come under. Genuine apologies if it's seen this way, I'm not making any extra money for people who do the survey, I get paid either way to do the research, so didn't really think of it in those terms.
No worries, not taken personally :) Which is the right bit then, the business section? Or wanted? Last one was aimed at families so seemed to make sense to post there, and did think the Lounge would be best but will happily repost wherever it would be allowed.

You're ok to post in the Lounge, please don't over do it by repeatedly posting and your old one has been reinstated:

    • We've got a Victorian coal hole cellar with a mud floor and after a couple of severe water leaks, I've taken more of an interest in the state of the dampness.  I've been running a dehumidifier for the past couple of weeks following a small water pipe leak and whilst most of the floor is now bone dry, there are damp patches along most of the wall adjoining the next house, a large damp patch in the middle of the floor that will not dry even with the dehumidifier right next to it and a patch of wet mud in a small hollow in the middle of the cellar.  An expert that lent us industrial drying equipment following a flood from a burst mains pipe said there will always be damp, but I'm a bit concerned in case there is a fundamental problem - any ideas from anyone with similar?

    • Hi there,  Looking for 10-12 jars (to start with) of local honey to fill a small section of a deli space in my work canteen. Please get in touch if you know of any community projects/small scale productions Cheers
    • Yeah, it did work out in the end, but it was way more stressful and expensive than it needed to be. He lost money. He had higher offers early on, but those buyers pulled out because of all the delays. On top of that, he spent a fortune on legal fees trying to get the neighbour to sign off on the freehold transfer. It dragged on for ages. In the end, he was lucky the final buyer stuck with it, but the price was lower, and the whole thing left a bad taste. A lesson learned. Share of freehold can be a real nightmare if the other owners aren’t cooperative. You’ve got to be 100 per cent sure everyone’s reasonable, otherwise it’s just not worth the hassle.
