there,s people would pay for that.

I don't blame you at all BBW, you were only doing what the rest of us feel like doing every time those little b@st@rds get on ths bus.

Zero sympathy for the kid - in fact I reckon that when they play their music on the bus, they're often doing it as a direct challenge to other passengers. Either to assert themselves, or to try and provoke a reaction to give them an excuse to administer a beating. Either way, it's about time we stopped being scared of kids, it's a terrible state for a society to be in... I wish more people stood up to them.

Well done for standing up to these bloody irritating twerps who think they are so tough. I'd have I've done the same myself after witnessing their behaviour and for being insulted in the same way as you were.

Usually I can't be bothered but if provoked enough I can do the look and the verbals if need be if I feel it's doing my head in and they have reluctantly complied. Fortunately, I've only once had to resort to physical violence when a gang of them turned on me. Violence is always the last resort. Trouble is you never know these days if one of the little shits is carrying a weapon.

Having said that people talking on the phone on public transport irritates as well.

There was an interesting conversation on the radio over Christmas about this point of taking the law into your own hands. One of the participants, a guy from some police avisory body was taking the line of "whatever you do, don't take these hoodlums on - you risk getting injured or getting prosecuted," The other guest was a youth worker whose message was "we are all responsible for good relations between children and adults so as an adult you have to learn to talk with teenagers." The difference between them was stark and worrying. The problem was that the police guy was more official and I hate it when the police take this line over these matters. What kind of advice is that? Put up and shut up. The Police should advise us how to talk to teenagers and they should back it up with statistical and anecdotal evidence of what happens when an adult engages with teenagers. Of course in the News we always hear of the examples where the adult is beaten up or prosecuted but my guess is that there are many more instances where the child changes his/her behaviour.

So whilst not advocating slapping anyone, thanks to BBW for letting us know how you engaged with teenage oiks without being murdered.

I would imagine that the police are totally out of touch, and are in no way equipped to advise the public how to comunicate with these kids. I still remember when I was at school, having police visits... "personally I don't take drugs, I get high enough on life", etc...

ha ha ha ha ha ha weeing on kids on the bus, thats the funniest thing I have heard this year. Tickled me pink it did. Its so wrong but it makes me want to have a willy.... Next time I am on the P4 and traumatised by noisy feral kids I will consider this as an option.

Maybe 2009 should be a year for challenging rude behaviour, so I am right behind you BBW (all 5ft2 of me....)

    • I wonder where he could be deported to, Hungary the obvious candidate in Europe, perhaps he would get on well with Modi?   Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch and Reform UK leader Nigel Farage both said Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood should look at whether Abd El Fattah's citizenship could be revoked to enable his swift removal from the UK. Farage said in a letter to Mahmood: "It should go without saying that anyone who possesses racist and anti-British views such as those of [Mr Abd El Fattah] should not be allowed into the UK." So just racists views are ok Nige?

    • If it's the same one I'm thinking of, it was a little further down the road towards LL, probably where the Fresh Flower Company is today. I'd forgotten all about it, with good reason. I think it disappeared before Blue Mountain opened and became a pizza place? I once bought a carton of milk from the deli and when I opened it, it was solid. I did get my money back though.
    • But when was it posted?! I haven't posted any this year. I can't bring myself to pay the exorbitant cost of the stamps, and at least I can sort of honestly blame it on illness. If I can't hand deliver them, I send e-cards. I know it's not the same, but it's very much easier. And as for the people who still send pages of closely handwritten letters .... very admirable in terms of the hours it must have taken them to write them,  but they remind me of those spoofs eg x has just passed all their many important exams with the highest marks possible, y has just walked round the world in a week, z has just become the first person ever to be knighted twice, we are about to fly off for our fifteenth exotic holiday this year ....... Or else (or sometimes and) they are full of who has had what illnesses and accidents and other catastrophes. Is this just my relatives and distant friends? Am I somehow attracting these reams of handwritten paper?
