Grabbed a quick pain au chocolat this morning...?1.50, good size and delicious, staff seemed friendly...Will def check them out further in the near future...it was certainly a step up from the world's driest croissant i bought from blackbird the other week.

So we have yet another caf? that sells sandwiches, croissants and some type of coffee.

FREE Wi-Fi. and is dog friendly.

The whole of East Dulwich has become hysterical and will DEFO be using it.

Just like all the other outlets people will DEFO be using.

Have we not reached DEFO be using it saturation point?

What has happened to Loyalty ?

Why go somewhere else when the other places were so brilliant. ?

Foxy

It's very convenient for people living at that end of East Dulwich, and for people on their way to the station, nothing to do with not having loyalty. The Blackbird hasn't had any competition for a long while.

Agree with pinecone, I miss ED warehouse cafe, and homemade. Wasn't someone supposed to have a coffee van at the station?

Well I'm not sure it should be.

The Bishop has it's own Pub Dog and allows other dogs in and serves food. ??

Pubs tend to have more space so not so much of a problem.

But a small caf?? I really do not think I approve.

There is simply no need to take your dog to a caf?. (Guide Dogs exempted)

Of course it's allowed. It's down to the owners/managers of establishments. Nothing to do with 'Elf and Safety', Homemade allowed dogs in, Toasted does, Jacks did, The French House does, as does The French Cafe on Forest Hill Road.

Some of us move house sometimes foxy and the dulwich cafe is no longer on the route to work for a bacon sandwich. La Scala is and I've not been overly impressed with Blackbird or the other greasy spoon. It is also possible for some of us too vary the establishments we frequent, its called variety and someone once told me it's the spice of life.

I don't go to cafes. Hardly ever.

I have Tea and Coffee at home.

I have Bread at Home.

I have bacon and sausages at home.

I have Eggs and Beans at home.

I have crumpets, croissants and a range of jams and marmalade at home.

I make my own breakfast and its a lot better than any Caf? can knock up.

    • If it's the same one I'm thinking of, it was a little further down the road towards LL, probably where the Fresh Flower Company is today. I'd forgotten all about it, with good reason. I think it disappeared before Blue Mountain opened and became a pizza place? I once bought a carton of milk from the deli and when I opened it, it was solid. I did get my money back though.
    • But when was it posted?! I haven't posted any this year. I can't bring myself to pay the exorbitant cost of the stamps, and at least I can sort of honestly blame it on illness. If I can't hand deliver them, I send e-cards. I know it's not the same, but it's very much easier. And as for the people who still send pages of closely handwritten letters .... very admirable in terms of the hours it must have taken them to write them,  but they remind me of those spoofs eg x has just passed all their many important exams with the highest marks possible, y has just walked round the world in a week, z has just become the first person ever to be knighted twice, we are about to fly off for our fifteenth exotic holiday this year ....... Or else (or sometimes and) they are full of who has had what illnesses and accidents and other catastrophes. Is this just my relatives and distant friends? Am I somehow attracting these reams of handwritten paper?
    • Oh, I didn't know that! I didn't move here till 1991 (I think) but the NCR incarnation must have been around that time? Unless my failing memory is even worse than I thought it was, sob.
    • I just googled, and apparently there's another branch of the Soho Street Govinda's  in Theobald's Road. I had no idea.
