I paid over the odds for a take-out tea (in my own cup) from the Megans in DV and was charged a service charge on top.

I was passed the tea over the counter and still had to take my own tea bag out so not exactly sure what the service charge was for.

The place looks cute far too expensive.

Great, just what the world needs! Another Lordship Lane Estate Agent and all their cars taking up parking spaces on the surrounding roads.

My thoughts entirely.

Megans food is abysmal, service was appalling and their idea of 'local' branding is just naff and pathetic.

What was the problem/s? Did you let them know, and what did they say back?

Just to backtrack here.

I say ?going up Lordship?

The Lane is East St as per Peckhamgatecrasher?s post.

Another negative here for Megan?s unfortunately. I tried the one in DV when it opened. Over-priced, small portions, very average food. Disappointing as I love eastern Mediterranean food.

But I bet they wont be repeat customers!

There are many other good reasonably priced independents on 'the Lane' I urge people to support them

Ken, there are no Pound shops down 'the lane'. I wouldn't be caught dead shoplifting anywhere else. I tend to target the independent shops rather than the chains when I am on my thieving spree.

Being tight and a shoplifter in East Dulwich means i have more money for little luxuries in life such as expensive machines that dispense beer. Incidentally, i wonder what would happen to all the nice pubs if lots and lots of tight people bought the machines for their homes, and saved a few quid by not going to the pub?

I had brunch in Megan's on Saturday and it was genuinely one of the worst meals out I've ever had. Terrible service -was waiting for 30 mins before they told me what I'd ordered wasn't available. Then what eventually did come, nearly an hour later was bad. One salad was literally inedible.

    • You'd need to get a proper quote (or three) for instance removing a cast iron bath is a very different job from removing an acrylic one. Again what pipe work will be being joined into - matching old imperial pipes with modern metric ones is different from like to like, as is dealing with a copper or an iron distribution system. The amount (area) of retiling required is an issue, as will be the state of the wall behind the tiles. It may of course all be very plain sailing, or not. Have a first look at plumber recommendations on the relevant pages on this site. If it's all easy then 3 days work may be sufficient. But it could be a week if there are snags.
    • Hi. Can anyone suggest a plumber for the job below? Replace bath tub with a shower enclosure, putting pipes to showerhead behind wall, re-titling damaged/removed tiles Also any idea of the costs involved for the labour as we will buy the items required?
    • Aria came round to fix my tub drain when I'd messed up the seal. Came within hours, fixed the tub, and ran a bath to make sure it was okay. Here's where the fun starts. While he was over, I asked him questions about the rest of the plumbing round the house. I had just moved into a Victorian home that was previously being rented. Unsurprisingly, we found another leak in the tub and a drip in the kitchen tap.  He came back the next day to put a better pipe in my bathtub and replace the kitchen sink. Painstakingly figured out how to replace the hard-to-access kitchen sink without cutting through the wood panel with the help of his builder friend, Mark. Answered all my questions and clearly knew his stuff. All this right before Christmas holidays!
