The acting in series one was good, I thought. Dark, compelling and with a good smattering of love/violence/drug use

I know this second series is even darker, in all areas. Directed by Colm McCarthy (who lives in Forest Hill)

Ballyturk. No idea what it all meant but he can certainly do theatre as well as TV and film.

I did give the opener from series one a go, by good god the accents are atrocious; suspension of disbelief jarred every other line.

You can forgive one here and there, maybe in supporting roles.. but when the lead roles can't manage it..

Shame. Looked quite good apart from that.

Yeah I gave up. It looks great and you get the sense that the story and the acting might be good, but...those...accents....

Not quite Charlie Hunnanm in Green St territory, but just as distracting.

That is dreadful.

I think though, on balance, I prefer Cheadle's Oceans's effort - because it sounds like he really really wanted to be convincing but no-one on set had the guts to break the news to him.

It doesn't sound like this Charlie bloke even cares!

I saw Cheadle in the very entertaining The Guard. He couldn't even get an American accent right!!

Apparently the accents are supposed to be authentic for the period. They were researched and are quite different to modern Brummie accents.

ha ha! But of course they were. Historical research clearly shows that Brummie accents back then were a mixture of home counties, Liverpool, and generic 'the north'.
