Ok, so I am going to try and write this without sounding like some single white(brown) female stalker.

I have been in ED for nearly 9 months now from moving down from the Midlands.

The reason for me posting is that I keep seeing a girl in ED that I am abolutely sure I went to Birmingham University with. I know it may sound a bit batty, and Mr VBC thinks I'm utterly nuts, but she's rather distinctive(pretty) looking and I just have this feeling that I am absolutly right and it IS a girl I went to uni with.

I can't give too much away, for privacies sake. But I went to Birmingham University between 2001-2004 and studied English and Philosophy. I think this girl studied English too and maybe something else too.

Is this you?

Do you know someone who did?

... erm not sure what I am actually gonna do if I find the lady in question.

I just need to get this nagging thought out of my head before I go mad.

...and prove Mr VBC wrong ;-) (yet again)

... and apologies if this IS you and you are totally freaked out by this thread!

Oh you have foiled my plan!!!

It's not money I am after...

It's my hair straighteners. The fro is a mess!

KK,

I don't think it's as exciting as it is creepy. Even I have to admit that. :-$

You know when something nags at you, like the name of a long forgotten band, and you cannot get on with anything else till you find the answer. I saw her a few weeks ago and I spent a day thinking I was imagining it, but then again, I was sure I wasn't because I am very good with remembering faces (crap with names). I forgot all about it, till this Sunday when I walked passed her again on LL.

She's quite tall and brown and gorgeous ringletty hair... oh god, I DO sound like a stalker. :-S

Oh that was YOU! I was wondering why a gorgeous young woman on her way to the gymn smiled at me. That wasnt cheery that was slightly puzzled, I have only met you once and I was very drunk - in my defence.

I was thinking of starting a thread "Thanks to the lovely young lady who smiled at me this morning", now I dont have to.

Have you done the usual stalker thing of Googling your friend's name?

All right I'm gonna do YOU a big favour.

I'll come down tonight from The 'burbs and introduce myself to her and tell her I'm speaking on behalf of a friend, and I'll attempt to discover certain facts about her.

I'll just need some "Ex's" money-thats all..

Are we on?

Would have gone for a tictac too personally...

I'm not the person you're after VBC but as you may have guessed from my tag I too am a midlander. It's nice to know I'm not the only one! Mind you if you're mission here is like mine to convert these southerners to say 'bath' properly then you'll have your work cut out. I've been here for 10 years and they still look bemused when they hear my dulcit tones.

    • Hubby had to retire from work due to serious ill health which had meant he was off work for several months at a time. His hospital consultant advised part time employment only, Signed on at Job Centre and asked them to send him on courses, especially IT has not computer literate or had a computer. Job Centre refused and insisted he applied for full time work even though he produced medical evidence from hospital and letter from previous employment detailing the reason why had medically retired him. He applied for the (then) disability allowance but was refused as not disabled enough and the fact he could work part time. Applied f or several part time jobs but when they knew of his medical history turned him down. That was 18 years ago. Disabled people who want  to work find it hard to find employment. I studied Disability and Employment in Holland as part of my degree and found at that time, the Dutch system more flexible. If a disabled person found a job part time, they still received a portion of their benefit as well as wages. If found a full time position, benefit suspended and were subject to regular reviews as to how they performed in  the job. If there were no problems, benefit was withdrawn, however if they found the work was not suited to their disability - they gave up work and went straight back to receiving their full benefit. If a disabled person finds employment, their benefits stop immediately. If they cannot maintain the work and are sacked, getting back onto benefits is very difficult, Give those who are able to work at least part time, the opportunity to have reduced benefits to top up wages.
