Just a quick question, both of our boys have been baptised at the church but we don't attend church regularly due to toddler Strawbs constantly acting like he has ants in his pants!! If we were to start attending with a view to it also helping get toddler Strawbs a church place at the school would toddler Strawbs also have to attend or can my OH just go. My OH is quite religious and would like to attend but it becomes a very stressful experience with toddler Strawbs and I don't want to leave him in the cr?che there. Welcome the views if any other parents that have secured a church place. Thanks

Hi...I've looked at a couple of church schools in Sydenham and the criteria for getting a place based on faith is generally that you have to have attended at least once a month for 12 months prior to application ie January so it might be too late. Still worth applying for a non-faith place though as they will offer some of those...
Look at the school website and check their church place criteria. I think it is something like church attendance at least 3 times per month for at least two years before application and involvement in other church activities - Sunday school / childrens' service/ fetes / nativity / choir etc. Take it in turns each Sun to go to church. Maybe taking the younger one to their tea / coffee sessions they have in the Goose Green Centre and to monthly children's' services.
Lots of parents stay with their children in the creche, so you wouldn't have to leave him in the there. We've always stayed with ours as we want Church to be a family experience and you really are free to go in and out as you need to. Creche finishes in time to go in for communion (as your husband is religious it might be really nice for him to be able to take him up for a blessing) notices and last hymn. All the kiddies are in the church for that last section and the foyer is still available so no stress.

    • Actually, if it was factory fitted then it's location would be documented. It's the fact that it can be fitted in different places which means that it's difficult for thieves to locate.
    • OK, good suggestion and it appears that the after-market price is about £260. But if that that was fitted ex-factory then the cost would be substantially less and certainly a small fraction of the price of a high-end car.
