Yes it will be a shame because it is handy, but could be so much better. They haven't changed for years, which is sometimes a good thing, but I've been to similar shops and they have so much more. I used to get my dog food from there but gave up because they're always out of stock, so I gave up. I find the man surly, but the woman is good, very smiley and helpful
First time posted but a follower of the EDF. I had to pop in there this morning and asked the chap who owns it whether he was closing. He was very confused and said that they are definitely not closing and wasn't-aware of any speculation that they might be. The women who works there is leaving. He asked me to post on here to let people know

I was offered a look at the shop from my estate agent a couple of weeks ago so to my knowledge its definitely up for sale. I know the shop well, Its a shame the lady is going, she's always so helpful. Not so fussed on the guy though. Sat down most of the time, abrupt, rude. Used to be nice but acts like it's a hardship to serve these days..

Will miss the dog most!

I use the shop quite regularly for pet supplies and other bits and pieces and my own experience is that they have both always been helpful and friendly. The chap told me the women was leaving to pursue her painting and decorating business. Hope I've got that right!

I'm not a representative of anyone but myself. I overheard them talking in the shop but had my almost 2 year old with me who just wanted to grab everything so we left before a tantrum started!

I shouldn't have to defend myself, I read EDF all the time but haven't felt like I wanted to write anything until now

Time will only tell if what I heard was right and they want to keep it under wraps until it's set in stone or I misheard.

I spoke with the owner today of N&P Home Improvements, who assured me that he is not closing the shop, and it is true that the lady is leaving to pursue a new challenge as a Painter . Glad to know N & P isnt closing ,open 7 days a week selling Paint ,Houshold goods, pet food, fish food ,Keys Cut ,Tools and more ,hope this stops the rumours look forward to N&P TRADING FOR YEARS TO COME ,

The reason you are having to defend yourself, SJ4545, is that although you say you read the forum all the time, the first post you feel like writing is to start off a rumour which could be very damaging to a small local business and seems to be incorrect.

Wouldn't it have been better just to wait until the next time you went into the shop and ask them, instead of posting something you later say you might have misheard?

Perhaps you should edit the title of this post.

I know for a fact it was up for sale, whether it is still I don't know but the proof will be in the pudding. Like a lot on this forum questions are asked to be answered, if it's incorrect then so be it. If anything it's brought attention to it being there.

    • This week's edition of The Briefing Room I found really useful and impressively informative on the training aspect.  David Aaronovitch has come a long way since his University Challenge day. 😉  It's available to hear online or download as mp3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002n7wv In a few days time resident doctors -who used to be known as junior doctors - were meant to be going on strike. This would be the 14th strike by the doctors’ union since March 2023. The ostensible reason was pay but now the dispute may be over without more increases to salary levels. The Government has instead made an offer to do something about the other big issue for early career doctors - working conditions and specialist training places. David Aaronovitch and guests discuss what's going on and ask what the problem is with the way we in Britain train our doctors? Guests: Hugh Pym, BBC Health Editor Sir Andrew Goddard, Consultant Gastroenterologist Professor Martin McKee, Professor of European Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine Mark Dayan, Policy Analyst, Nuffield Trust. Presenter: David Aaronovitch Producers: Caroline Bayley, Kirsteen Knight, Cordelia Hemming Production Co-ordinator: Maria Ogundele Sound Engineers: Michael Regaard, Gareth Jones Editor: Richard Vadon
    • That was one that the BBC seem to have lost track of.  But they do still have quite a few. These are some in their 60s archive. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0028zp6
