Asbestos removal

can anyone recommend/ has anyone used a builder to remove asbestos safely in ED? Roof of our shed turns out to be asbestos and we need it removed.

Ideally want to find someone who will take down the asbestos as well as remove it from the property. It seems that cityoflondon will collect only.

I've had a similar situation recently. After having a 'survey' by an asbestos disposal firm (?100) I was quoted ?900 for removal. Me and a labourer did it in 3 hours. As long as it's intact and the right material, the risks of contamination from the asbestos can be minimal - just do your research.

Indeed - worth checking how much and what sort of asbestos you have - corrugated concrete/asbestos sheets if that is what you have tend to be 5% asbestos

Damp well down with water or after heavy rain then remove and wrap in plastic sheeting or bin liners.

The reference I gave specifies the gauge of plastic - essentially damp proof course plastic - if you use this route they will not take it unless you comply. And three weeks notice to collect.
