God - there was I thinking how bloody wonderful it all looked with the trees and how clever the project is...

For those interested/ who don't know its part of this project:

Long may they grow there!

@teddy - there is a relatively safe cycle store just by Peckham Rye station

I think it's open till midnight everyday - http://www.southernrailway.com/southern/news/peckham-rye-cycle-hub-open-for-business/

Some of the fixtures are a bit problematic in terms of getting your bike locked securely but I've never had anything taken from my bike (would be interested to hear if anyone has had a different experience) I've left my bike overnight when had to come back a different way due to train problems and all OK. I have also left lights on my bike (something I never used to do before) & all OK. It also can be a bit of a playground for kids - I quite like that.

I think the trees and planting are lovely too - they've been there since summer I think? reminds me of the skip garden in King's Cross - http://globalgeneration.org.uk/kings-cross-skip-garden on a smaller scale

The trees don't make a difference - it's Peckham. I left my bike outside McDonald's for ten minutes one sunny afternoon last year, and when I came back someone had stuck a huge nail through the side wall of the tyre. If you're worried, use the station bike park.

    • There was something to do a with a gate in the Brockwell case, I can't recall the detail, but the council removed a gate, which had been gifted in trust to the park, so the festival builders could allow access, or something. And that was illegal and that's what enabled Rylance et al to litigate.
    • How long is the Gala, and potential new event, disruption….this could be key from the article on the High Court challenge against Lambeth…   Under permitted development rules, a temporary change of use is allowed for a total of 28 days each calendar year, but the Brockwell Park festivals run over 37 days and were due to begin on 23 May.
    • Try the castle upstairs, you'd need to buy a few drinks in return.  @Suecan you advise?  It will be in use some Mondays no doubt
    • Yes, I was bemused to see that notice in Barry Road. It seemed a strange place to be having a drop off point.
