Gym'ing and keeping fit.....

Hello,

I am looking for some advise around the gyms in ED. I am more of a class lady so would love to get recommendations for the gym with good dance, zumba, aerobic classes.

I would love to know about any running clubs that people may know about...and if there are any reasonably priced PT's in the area...

Thanks

Nuala

Dulwich Leisure Centre on Crystal Palace Road is great value, has large gym, swimming pool and extensive class timetable.

Also, highly recommend Lauren Whitby who is a pt and runs a brilliant Women's Boor Camp in Dulwich Park (and other locations) www.bodyfittrainingsolutions.com

Hi there,

I saw your post regarding Zumba classes etc. Just wanted to let you know I run several women only boxing classes a week. The classes are non contact just circuits, pad work , bag work, and proper boxing technique. I've trained in boxing and Thai boxing for almost 18 years and fought for 2 British titles. And although my classes are super fun .... They are not Boxercise lol.

I also do group PT sessions where a small group of ladies chip in ?15 towards a PT session making it more affordable all round.

Feel free to check out my Facebook page to see video clips and photos of my classes.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Kind regards,

Mind over matter

Hi I would recommend patrice' Urban Fit and fearless on Bellenden Road on a wednesday

it is a self defence class but with a lot of fitness exercise - I got fitter than I have ever been before the first class is free.

I would also recommend Community Circuits in Herne Hill and

[www.communitycircuits.com]The classes are only ?10 each or ?72 for ten (currently) and the first is free. The instructors are friendly and helpful and very welcoming and there is a really good mixture of people in each class - not many people are stereotype lycra bunnies so it is not intimidating!

Also Tom Lynas' Metafit classes on East Dulwich Grove are really good - they are interval training so even though the classes are only half an hour you get a very good work out- in the summer Tom does a class in Dulwich Park Tom's address is [email protected] The classes are only ?5 each and the first is free

PM if you want any more comments

    • Portable ramps are available for businesses to use in this sort of situation, aren't they? I don't know whether one would be suitable for use here, or whether they have the space to store one. Lots of people have  permanent or temporary disabilities which mean they have to use crutches or a wheelchair.
    • I can’t remember where I read that figure but this article in the Grauniad from 2023 discusses Ocado results from 2022. The average shopping cart fell to £118 from £129 the previous year. But Ocado lost £500m that year on approximately 20 million orders (circa 400k orders per week). So, averaging out to £25 lost per order. Ocado pauses building new warehouses as annual losses balloon to £500m | Ocado | The Guardian  Obviously, the £500m loss includes various factors. But Ocado has existed for 25 years and only made a small profit in a couple of those years. The rest have been huge losses. Yet it continues to raise funds and speculation sends the share price up and down. In that respect,  it’s like the UK version of Tesla. Meanwhile, the main growth in the supermarket sector has been for Aldi and Lidl, who do not deliver.
