Went to the Bridge House in Penge on Monday which has a small (40 seater) theatre upstairs. Thoroughly recommend the perfomance of 'It's a wonderful life'

Still tickets for Sat and Sunday https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/event/69219

Sadly, even though I am on the mailing list, only made it to the Brockley Jack once in my life and never seen theatre at EDT or the Hob.

A zillon years ago went to the Latchmere.

Just to give a huge thumbs up to theatre503 in Battersea - so easy with the orange line to Clapham junction now.

Again this is not an amateur theatre, but instead an award winning theatre that is

The smallest theatre to ever win an Olivier award and had two West End transfers this year.

2015 is looking fab including the debut play from Phoebe Eclair-Powell, a local girl (some might make a link from her surname.

And the Latchmere where the theatre is based had had a makeover and a change of management - now owned by the same guys who own the Rosendale in Dulwich.

There's a great comedy show at the Comedy Museum theatre in Bloomsbury starting 3rrd February. Starring Jonathan Hansler and Clive Greenwood it's called the Afterlife of Peter Cook and Dudley Moore. I saw an early draft version of this and it's hysterical. The full length show should be a scream.

Not a pub but hey, small local theatres (with bars): the Blue Elephant in Camberwell, occasional theatre companies in residence at the Bussey building in Peckham (including some really fantastic'theatre local' by the Royal Court), the Southwark Playhouse near Elephant (brilliant) and the Ovalhouse.

Thanks for the excellent suggestions and the further recommendations for the Bridge House - despite the seats!

Went to the White Bear years ago when a friend of a friend did a production and similarly the Blue Elephant more recently.

When I lived out in the sticks we regularly used to see am dram - usually a Stoppard or similar play and it was always entertaining. With that in mind in the last century I went to West Norwood Theatre, which I understand they are always trying to save http://www.southlondontheatre.co.uk/newSLT/

Also an odd theatre under the arches at Waterloo station.

    • Went to a fireworks display maybe 20 years ago at the Crystal Palace, it wasn't bonfire night, can't remember why it was being held, Capital Radio were there. There were people hanging from a crane, classical music, and quiet fireworks,  It was lovely, still dramatic with the colours but no loud bangs. Not sure why this hasn't become the norm.
