sounds like the advice came too late if you are watching him get ready in the morning (morning after regrets?)

"if you feed it, it will grow" sounds trite, but very useful to have in the back of your mind when there are bad office politics/relations/and a whole load a whinging going on, or for that matter any negative stuff that you keep coming back to in your head and niggling away at.

"if you feed it, it will grow" also for the good aspects of your life... and I don't mean your belly

I think routes of the phase come from Buddhist philosophy... or so I was told

http://fc50.deviantart.com/fs28/f/2008/128/a/c/The_Young_Buddhist_Monk_by_serhatdemiroglu.jpg

My slim and rather slender workmate Stephen M. stayed at my South London Flat one night after a drinking session after work and we slept in my double bed.

He was straight but teased me about "how do you know you won't like something unless you try it!", trying to imply that he batted for the other side so I "tested" him. I crept out of bed and got a 10 inch Bamboo Stick, that I just brought back from Majorca, smuggled it into the bed and when his back was turned I shoved it right up his jaxie and boy! did he run and run:)) finally locking himself in the loo....

He never gave me that advice again, for some reasonB)

I think Charlie explained quite well what she meant. If you give energy and time to negative things in your life - be they thoughts; enemies; bitchiness... all manner of negative things, then things will just get worse. Instead, observe what's happening and how you are feeling and then just put them to one side.... just let go. And eventually they will lose their hold over you.

Easy, innit?

Very good explanation BB.

I think I was sidetracked by growth in other areas by a comment my girlfriend made, at the time.

That will teach me to focus...:)

Presumably this works in reverse.

Next time( one can only hope) that an attractive Lady grabs my head firmly on each side and pulls me "Down South" I shall fend her off and punch her, squarely, in the face.

Thanks for the advice.

You might end up arrested but good luck

Thanks Bellenden Belle... you write a quick post before dashing off to work, thinking... "anyone could get that one" and all manner of confusion sets in... thanks goodness for the clear analysis from you BB. Easy, innit!!:)

    • A stellar win for the Greens in Gorton and Denton, no doubt. But by-elections are funny beasts. Labour's strength traditionally has been in its ground game. Legions of canvassers over many years in many seats usually means that they are best placed to 'get out the vote' on election day. I can't quite believe that the Greens have enough data, or people, to wrest control of the council from Labour.
