The post office doesn't do post anymore, they've discovered it's far too much hassle to take millions of envelopes and bother to take them to their destinations.

Try your local insurance shop, perhaps they have taken to delivering letters now that the post office is selling insurance.

I noticed the taped up box outside the post office. I spoke to the postman collecting this evening and he said that Royal Mail will be closing lots more post boxes, meaning we will have to take our post to the post office. Apparently it costs them too much money, paying for the postman to collect, paying for the van etc. etc.

I think the use of email is making the whole process non cost-effective, so maybe the postman was right and the postbox will remain taped up, along with many others.

    • No problems... That number of vans would be consistent with football issues. And if it had just been one vehicle I might have considered the timing was consistent with rushing to get back for refs - when I worked in the City the 4.00pm siren rush to Wood St nick was a regular occurrence. But 5 in convoy?!
    • could be related to the three arrests yesterday.   Without knowing, it is just speculation   "All three men were arrested on suspicion of assisting a foreign intelligence service, contrary to section 3 of the National Security Act (NSA), 2023 and they were taken to a police station in London." (Met News)
    • My apologies. The timing of your original post suggested it was after 6pm, which would fit with them herding away supporters onto the train at London Bridge and trying to get to Selhurst station to escort them to the ground.
