Have had a bad experience at Give and Take shop on 3 lordship lane! Looking for advice on what to do or share experience with someone in similar situation.

That how it happened:

Cleaning up my wardrobe from clothes I don t need or i don t use just few months ago. Lots of things given to several Charity shops in ED but had a few valuable and hardly used things that i want dot sell.

Thought of selling on ebay but didn t want the trouble so I was suggested to go to GIVE AND TAKE shop

Didn t know much about them but went there with a brand new coat (?250) 2 suits (around ?200 each) and a jacket which was used but not at all worn out (once again ?200ca)

As they explained me their conditions I didn t want to leave my staff I thought about selling on ebay but cause I am a trader myself I asked for a deal! I asked them if they wanna keep the staff and selling but I clearly refused for my clothes to be given to charity if not sold within their time frame

Just before the due date I went back to the shop to pick up my staff; my coat was sold for roughly ?90 (which did earn me ONLY a ?18 bonus to spend at the shop) Rest of my staff was not sold so I asked for pick them up. The shop assistant working there asked me if i was willing to leave them for one more month as she said clothes were very good and she was positive on selling them but she thought she could not sell it as it was over the summer with many locals away

We agreed for me to leave the staff one more month but once again I asked them not to donate my staff; she agreed and went back there before the end of the month extension..

..staff wasn t sold so decided to pick it up and sell on ebay. the shop assistant told me she will collect staff for me and give me a call when ready to pick up..

Left my phone number (once again) but She never called me so after 2/3 weeks i went back there...again the same shop assistant told me she forgot about it all and she would collect staff and give me a call. She also reassured me that my staff was not going to be donate as agreed..I saw myself my staff still hanging there that time..

AS once again she didn t call me I went there and again there was another shop assistant who told me She knew nothing about my staff and she would collect it for me and call me....but already I didn t see one of the 2 suits in the shop anymore..

I got bit stressed out so i asked for my staff back; once again she told me she will ask the manager and call me within a few days but again she didn t ..

I got back there after few days and a new shopping assistant was working there. She didn t know about my staff and any agreement so I asked her to speak with the manager and trace my staff..ONLY one of my suit was there

Back the other day my staff wasn t there anymore (NOT EVEN THE SUIT) and she said "it all was donated as by the rule of the shop" and plus my ?18 bonus was expired ...the best she could do after few hard words was for me to give me my bonus of ?18 and few more days to spend it...rougly 10days..

My clothes were easy to sell on internet for much better money than the ?18 they want to give me for my coat and anyway we had a verbal agreement for them NOT TO DONATE MY STAFF..

Now all has disappeared from the shop and i got left with nothing..

What shall I do? Anyone else have had a bad experience at that shop???

Write them a letter summarising the situation, how it's different from what was agreed, and how much you think they owe you (bearing in mind it's supposed to be a charity shop). Head it 'Witbout Prejudice' and send it recorded delivery.

If that fails you could consult a solicitor.

    • As I understand it Charlie Smith did put himself forward for selection in GG but Labour members chose someone else to represent them, Liam McGrath https://southwarklabour.com/our-candidates/   It'll be interesting to see if there are other defections - surely the Greens want a drip, drip, drip of news from now to May suggesting the momentum is with them.
    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
    • One wonders if he would have defected if he had, ahem, held on to the leadership of Southwark and whether he felt that "Labour are no longer the vehicle for social justice" during his leadership election........my how quickly things change in the thoughts of a politician 😉 I think this sums things up quite nicely: A senior Southwark Labour spokesperson hit back: “Local residents can draw their own conclusions about Cllr McAsh’s swift move from Labour leadership hopeful to the Green Party, after he didn’t get his own way. While he’s thinking about his own career, Southwark Labour are delivering for residents.” One wonders if he will stand as a Green candidate in Goose Green.
    • No doubt if he determines to stand for a ward he will enlighten us - at least his track record is one of using this site to communicate (inter alia). I would suspect that (1) his personal views on traffic will have remained consistent but that (2) his views on local democracy and proper consultation will have as well.
