Pedler Restaurant - thumbs-up

Quick shout out for Pedler - a new restaurant that opened over Xmas on Peckham Rye. It seemed busy every time we went past it on the bus so gave it a go for a Sunday Roast. We were really impressed: nice atmosphere, great food and very good (friendly, prompt) service. Food-wise I'd say it's on a level with the Palmerston/Franklins/Toast etc. Price was relatively reasonable. Will be back for dinner some time.

We were also there on Sunday, and totally agree, loved the food and the service was fantastic.

Make sure you book though! It was rammed the whole time we were there, and we could see many people without reservations being turned away.

Prices don't look too steep... whole roast partridge for ?13, lamb chops ?12.

That's really not expensive by today's standards for a decent main course.

If you want "a chicken" then there's a Tesco (and Asda) nearby.

main - all with dripping roast potatoes, honey glazed

roots, buttered sprouts & tops & yorkies

so ?16/head for a Sunday lunch of half a roast chicken and all the trimmings - posh? or just you aching to go pissing on people's chips again?

Dulwich Fox and Louisa have really become the forum bores. ?32 between dinner for a main course for 3 isn't at all unreasonable. If you don't like the prices, don't go, it's as simple as that.

Have just returned from a visit to Pedler. Absolutely wonderful - great food at a reasonable price and the cocktails were delicious. It's clear that careful consideration has gone into the decor and style of the interior and also in to providing the right ambience. Lots of knowledgable and attentive staff. All in all a brilliant new addition to an underused part of Peckham Rye and we will definitely be back again in the near future.

That part of Rye lane is really getting some investment - Pedler, the new hairdressers, the organic shop, Lerynns and I think there is a new coffee shop to come which roasts its own beans.

We had the roast chicken at Pedler. It came with all the trimmings and was more than enough for two of us and they bagged up the carcass which I took home and made a very nice chicken soup that did a week of lunches at work for me. So all in all a bit of a bargain.
