Sorsi & Morsi?

Not enough people wanted to eat Pizza until Franco Manca came to town..

But that's only a fad because people think it's cool to be seen there.

They will soon get over it and find somewhere new to go..

That's why places keep opening and then closing down after a few months.

You were wrong about The Ivy House, and you are wrong about Franco Manca.

The Ivy House is thriving, and so is Franco Manca. And they will both continue to thrive whilst they continue to give people what they want.

OK, clearly not what you want. From your previous posts on here, that would appear to be Jafflong day after day :))

Oh yeah, thanks Numbers. Hmmm....a restaurant in that particular space doesn't seem to work does it.

the pre chopstix incarnation was good value- same family IIRC, but it closed for what seemed a decade, then emerged as the shiny new chopstix- and sadly the food wasnt as good IMO. its a small ans probs expensive space- would be a blates superb sushi house if there were no local competition

I do not go to Jaflong day after day... :)

I use Jaflong, Dulwich Tandoori, Mirash, Curry Cabin, Surma.

Much of the time I get a take away and get 2 meals out of single portions..

I choose Jaflong because it is usually quiet and I can eat my food in peace

without some jerk shouting in my ear.

I often see people I know in there.

The food is good and has actually improved to the standard of anywhere else in the area.

Franco Manca is small cramped noisy.

If I ate Pizza it would not be there.

They need to remove 1/2 of the tables and give people some space.

Wrong. Franco Manca has been booming at it's other sites for ages and the Dulwich one will too.

I don't mind dealing with crowds as long as the food is great. I'd never choose a place because it's quiet. I'd rather eat at home.

I really don't think they 'need' to do anything differently - business is booming for them.

    • A new roadmap (surely railmap?!) for rail accessibility has been published: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/accessible-railways-roadmap It says "approximately 56% of stations and around 66% of the 1.3 billion journeys that take place on the network have step-free access to platforms...  "£373 million has been committed over the next 5 years to deliver Access for All projects, providing step-free access from station entrances to and between platforms, alongside other essential accessibility upgrades. These works, together, will increase the number of step-free stations across Great Britain from 56% to 58%. "This improvement will make travel easier with step-free access available at stations covering an increased share of total rail journeys – from 66% up to 71%" Don't know what that means for us here: upgrading Peckham Rye would cover a lot of rail journeys but the cost has no doubt increased from the £40m figure previously quoted. So that would eat into a lot of the funding.
