Please never vote.

Andymat....get over your SE15 fixation. This can happen anywhere. Just spoken to a copper and he said the victim was local...ie from SE22. Why it happened who knows but i know that its grim. Just heard the wailing family. That is not something i want to experience on a Sunday evening. Think it was a hit. The police just took away a car, because the policeman told me it may have the shooter's handprint on...ie a hit!

I'm afraid I do. But fear not I'm a leftie despite having a 'Bush-Cheney' poster on my wall in uni.

Tony, the victim may have been local but there is nothing to suggest that the shooter was. I stand my my view point that london's underworld permeates many areas of the Capital, both the affluent and the underdeveloped.

As an aside, consider the anecdotal evidence that the East End gangsters in the 'days of yore' moved to Essex when they 'made it'.

Brings you all back down to earth tho' the Rat at Sainsbury's and the other pointless stuff that gets posted on here has lost a bit of clout. Tragic really, the world is a crazy place, one minute everybody's thinking about setting up an acardo account and the next there's a dead guy outside your house, it's horrific and pretty scary. it's a sign of the times really and although these types of incidents are few and far between it's still a bit too close to home.

I'm with you penk. I'm not exactly what you'd call a 'care bear' socialist but even I can see that statements such as "slum clearances" show a horrible degree of ignorance. In fact, with reference to the protection of 'us' and "bulldozing" of 'them' situation you are implying, it teeters conspicuously near what one could call (almost laughably) post codalism.....

...surely you can't be serious in suggesting that SE15 is solely responsible for bringing gun crime to your doorsteps? You live in London, do you not? Gun crime up by 4%! Don't you think by sheer numbers it's bound to happen near you at some point? Does that entitle you to then go and point the finger of blame at a whole area code? Come now, let's be reasonable adults.....

This forum is full of people who suffer from delusions of grandeur, most of whom talk complete and utter drivel. lets build a wall around ED to protect my 2 up 2 down rabbit hutch with paper thin walls that I paid ?10000 over the odds for. get a life ED.

As benmorg has suggested, there's been a killing over parking, and a killing over a supermarket queue argument. And various killings with mistaken identity.

All kinds of minor things these days may result in assault or worse. There are a lot of people walking around with weapons, and some people don't seem to need much cause to use them.

I still think building a wall is a good idea. It could have graffiti and glass on the poor side and nice flowers and vines on the, how can I put this - nicer side. Couple of gates/checkpoints should do it. Nothing too big just something to keep the lower classes in check, you know what I mean?

I came across this website by accident, and can't believe some of the comments I'm reading. I don't live in ED I've only ever passed through on the train, (and I didn't spot any red carpets or gilted benches)but hello don't know if any of you realised but you actually live in one of London's most dangerous boroughs. Did some of you think that just because you paid ???? for an over priced shoebox that it came with some sort of forcefield to protect you "the aspiring middle class" from your scummy neighbours in SE15 (and no I don't live there I live in Kent)? The facts are crime affects everyone rich or poor, black or white. You could be living next to a wife beater who next week hits his wife a little too hard and kills her - would that be less shocking or more acceptable as he was from ED?

One of Stephan Lawrence's alleged murderers lived in Chislehurst Kent, in a house worth over 2.5million, which was allegedly paid for with drugs money, so criminals can afford to live anywhere including next door to you.

To be honest to be shot in the head like this guy was, its probably going to be a gangland hit, and I bet my bottom dollar he was a criminal. So how many criminals are hiding away in ED? I guarentee its a hell of a lot more than what you think.

Many of us will be upset and worried by what's happened. I, like many others, was naive enough to think "it couldnt happen here". I' like many others, have been proved wrong. But unless anyone on here is an expert criminal/forensic investigator with a unique insight into this case, people should keep idle speculation about the "guilt" or otherwise of the victim to themselves. As someone stated elsewhere, this is a public forum not a cosy chat between neighbours. Relatives of the victim could come across this. Show some respect.

Fear nay candyfloss, pretty sure those comments were written with tongue planted firmly in cheek...

Only found about this through my g/f's mum who lives up north and heard it on the news. Wouldn't have known just from walking down the Lane. It's tragic of course, but hardly surprising. Statistics are not gospel.

London is 4 or 5 communities living side by side - but acting like the others aren't even there.

In that respect 'Ghost Town' is an apt description - although I doubt for that reason.

Are you talking about when forensic squads take bricks and mortar from your house when a murder happens in your road? Or when the exiled spirit from dead body steals bricks and mortar from your house? Surely that's what equates to value in housing terms?

What, you're talking about money!?!?

Far too much importance placed on house prices being grossly overinflated. All part of the ridiculous bubble this country lived in (and still tries its utmost to remain in) over the last 10-15 years. People taking out mortgages at extremely high stakes. I'll never understand why.

    • There was good item on Radio 4’s consumer affairs programme You &Yours on 1st December. It was about these CIC fund raising scams and refers to this We R Blighty mob in particular (they have been successfully prosecuted twice and fined for their activities in the City of London). Also mentioned the “knife crime charity” lot who also show up in ED. The advice was to give them nothing and that they are breaking the law. It’s on the BBC Sounds app or via this link  (the item starts at 41m51s in): https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002n065      I think you know perfectly well that is not what the poster is saying. There are a lot of CICs (there are now 37,000 of them) that have been set up specifically to mislead the public into handing over money. This We R Blighty is one such. These are the details of one of the cases against them in the City last month: https://news.cityoflondon.gov.uk/we-r-blighty-told-to-pay-out-thousands-over-illegal-collections/
    • Are you saying all CICs are dodgy? I think that’s totally unfair.
    • Similar deal to those Hive City guys who also camp outside of M&S, also a dodgy CIC rather than a charity
    • please report this to the police - were there any witnesses? She should face charges. the owner should not allow dogs off lead - I'm so sorry this has happened.  It would be good if you can identify her - are there cameras - in the cafes around? - follow her, find her address and report her. https://www.met.police.uk/advice/advice-and-information/ac/animal-crime/ also report to the park wardens so they can be found Your Local Council: Contact them to report issues in parks or public areas, especially if you know the dog or owner, as they investigate under local bylaws and the Dangerous Dogs Act. https://www.gov.uk/control-dog-public/report-a-dog
