BeadyBoo
After not having a bowel movement for 9 days even whilst using lactose and movicol, my son admitted he is scared to poo because it hurts. Maybe a link to his night terrors??We have resorted to an infant suppository and that cleared the blockage and no night terror last night but where do we go from here? Does anyone have any experience they can share? He is still in nappies showing zero interest in pants/potties/toilets.Many thanks. goldilocks
The Eric website linked above is good. How old is he and how many sachets of movicol ? It sounds like the dose isn't right. GPs can be quite reluctant to increase but the Nice guidance is pretty clear I think. Perhaps call ERIC for advice, but 9days really is too and will probs be painful. With the right dose he won't have hard poo and hopefully will stop associating it with pain. Knomester
Agree with Goldilocks that you may need to check the movicol dose. Usually a loading dose followed by fairly high amounts to get things moving and then you can adapt to find the right level for your little one. Also, we found that we had to stick with movicol for probably a couple of years. Otta
Yeah once you've gotten rid of the backlog (Heh Heh, "log") long term movocol at quite a low dose (we just do one a day now) tends to keep things going.
