A thought prompted by new posters asking questions about 'how we do things' on here. Not intended as guidelines and certainly not rules, which are specified by Admin, but just thoughts about how things generally seem to go. Does the forum have a collective set of behaviours or is it heterogenous?

- Anything specifically about East Dulwich, whether serious or lighthearted, in the ED section

- Anything not about East Dulwich, whether serious or lighthearted, in the Lounge

- General discussions about local services / shops in the ED section BUT specific recommendations in Wanted, Offered and Recommendations (bit of a tricky distinction, this!)

- Generally being expected to back up your opinions with logic and/or facts

- Reasonable politeness expected... usually

- A general but not exclusive tendency to liberalism, politically speaking

- The Keef Convention: saying "What X said" in agreement to a previous post

- Writing 'Edited due to... ' when editing a post, to explain why you went back to revise your post

- Being suspicious of new posters raving about local services (not very nice, in my view, but understandable in the light of past fakes)

- A love of music (Song Game, Lyrics Game, What is ED Listening To..)

- A love of elbow-lifting!

What else?

Edited due to sounding much too much like rules the first time round. Ma'am.

I am tempted but due to the current tendency for a lot of discussions in the Lounge to be turned into "we're 'aving a larf so leave us alone" threads I probably will not. I am going to wait a short for it to turn from a playroom back into a Lounge.

It is a sport popular among Forumites, good for toning the arm. By co-incidence, it's also an excellent means of getting your drink from the glass on the table into your mouth.

It is not technically dancing, but has been known to lead to dancing, both vertical and horizontal.

    • Oh give it a break.  We have an MP who makes racist comments, yet our media (and what seems like this Forum) that generally hate Labour (and loved Johnson) are just out looking for the dirt. It's a move on, nothing to see here.  Particularly if she used a letting agency.

    • I don't think a single all-inclusive URL is easily doable.  When you enter a search the system presents the result without any of one's search parameters added to the URL.  So I suggest you go to https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/search.do?action=advanced where you just need to enter the address -- use SE22 8EW -- and the  Date Received start date.  I used 1/1/2025.  The three Tesco applications, all minor things, were all made in May.  The Simple search that I'd done previously had no time limit, and didn't include anything else that might have been from Tesco in the last two years. Incidentally, when I searched on the address 29-35 Lordship Lane it did not pick up the Tesco applications, which were held as 29 - 35 Lordship Lane Grrr!
