damp - dpc injection for walls

Hello

A local contractor has quoted us 1250 for stripping 4 walls in our dining room, hack off damp in walls .to sand and cement and skimmiming all walls . injecting the walls with dpc and then putting on a waterproof render onto walls.

they say its 3 days work. Is this price reasonable or excessive

I would take your time and research properly the cause of the damp. I had a damp chimney breast on the ground floor which was a mystery to everyone. I took my time as no one explanation was realistic to me. 5 years later... turns out that the person on the first floor next to me had pierced a radiator pipe with a screw and water was slowly dripping down the chimney stack as I am downhill of him.

Assuming the work really is needed, I would say that price is quite reasonable given that plastering alone is around ?100 per wall.

Get a properly independent damp survey done - i.e. not by people who also do DPC or any other treatments but solely by someone whose job is diagnosis.

Very little damp is truly rising. Much is penetrative or examples like HHG.
